    Top 100 players since 1980

I'm going to ignore you listing Danger and Martin ahead of Judd (which IMO is very inaccurate). But this assertion about his kicking penetration and goal kicking impact is just baseless. He would regularly sink goals from 45m + as seen in the below video. Also he went better than a goal a game...

Best 25 players of the last 50 years

I'd take Riewoldt over Goodes, but I doubt that's going to be a popular opinion. Franklin is the other that will be considered at the end of his career. Players like Fyfe, Dangerfield will need many years at the top level to be considered. Up until about 2 years ago I would've said Pendlebury...

Top 40 Under 22s in the AFL

Hill's had the better career so far but it would be brave punter who picks him to be the better player over their careers.

Opinion 10 most under rated current players

I disagree that he's a good user of the ball. I think he was but IMO in recent years he constantly sells his teammates into trouble and second-touches under pressure.

Opinion 10 most under rated current players

I'm sure most Carlton fans would be pretty disappointed with Murphy since his fantastic year in 2011. Going from a top 5 mid to outside the top 100 in the comp means IMO he isn't underrated. He needs to fix his decision-making and get back to the form that may make Carlton's midfield competitive.

    Opinion Top 50 2014

It's an interesting dilemma. Kennedy could but he's no guarantee to be back before finals. If Gray has two blinders I suppose I'd consider him. As a general rule of thumb I usually allow about four games grace before considering lowering a player for games missed (over the entirety of the...

    Opinion Top 50 2014

It's tough. I've faced criticism before when I rated Mackenzie's year (pre-Hawthorn game) in the teens. So some people believe that the backmen, at their best, should only rate 40 onwards whereas others believe they can rate as high as 15. IMO the backs start about right. Mackenzie has been our...

    Opinion Top 50 2014

As pointed out previously my list of key backs are: 1. Mackenzie 2. Talia 3. Hooker 4. Taylor 5. Rance 6. Carlile/Thompson Do you feel that Rance should be further up that list?

    Opinion Top 50 2014

Westhoff obviously had a great start to the season but has not been as good since IMO. In fact if you look at his really good games a trend starts to appear - round 1 v Carl, round 4 v Bris, round 11 v Melb, round 14 v WB, round 18 v Melb, round 19 v Coll and round 21 v GC. Westhoff has kicked...

    Opinion Top 50 2014

Jones and Priddis are hard to rate because they have such poor players around them. Truth be told I don't really rate Priddis' contribution this year. However, it is hard to mount an argument that he shouldn't be on the list at all. Would you then suggest that he be in the 40-50 range? Jones is...

You'll notice that Ballantyne was in my Round 16 version (just). Since then he's had the following games: Rd 17 - 13 touches, 5 goals Rd 19 - 8 touches, 3 goals Rd 20 - 10 touches, 1 goal It was a hard choice but I decided to drop him out of the 50. Like I mentioned above he's my next choice for...

    Opinion Top 50 2014

I agree that this year has been one for the def/mids rather than one for the forwards. So my list of forwards at the moment: 1. Franklin 2. Gunston 3. Riewoldt 4. Roughead 5. Breust ---------------- 6. Ballantyne 7. Hawkins 8. Schulz 9. Elliott How do you rate Breust compared to his teammates...

    Opinion Top 50 2014

Last year I had him in the 50. This year I don't think he's reached the heights he did last year. He's always in my considerations but atm the backs I have in are: Mackenzie, Malceski, Talia, Hooker, Smith, Taylor with Kelly, McVeigh and Rance just missing. Therefore I'd rate Johnson between...

  21. eaglespremiers

    Opinion Top 50 2014

Some thoughts from tonight. Smith will be in my 50 after tonight's performance, probably at the expense of Roughead. Sloane, Lewis and Hodge will be bumped up slightly. Gunston will go up a small amount (despite kicking four important goals) as he's in a very competitive part of my top 50...

  23. eaglespremiers

    Opinion Top 50 2014

Smith is clearly on the cusp of the 50 as seen in the unluckies. So you're really only arguing between me rating him at positions 51-55 or 41-50, I presume. This is hardly a "huge oversight". Most Swans fans seem to agree with my assessment of Malceski. Whilst he has had some good games I'd...

    Opinion Top 50 2014

To round 11 I believe Mackenzie had only conceded about 1 goal a game. When playing on the no. 1 key forward that was quite remarkable IMO, particularly with our midfield.
  25. eaglespremiers

    Opinion Top 50 2014

I would say he played an average game. He turned the ball over a bit by foot but was good defensively. Last week against Hawthorn he was terrible. Only conceded four goals but still was arguably our worst player. That's why I dropped him.

    Opinion Top 50 2014

Thanks, I will drop Hill down the list a bit next week. Regarding Riewoldt, I thought long and hard as to whether a 2nd key forward needed to be included in my list. I've been charged with being very un-KPF in previous top 50s. Obviously this year hasn't been very productive for many forwards...
