    Apparently a private member's Bill has been/is being introduced to Parliament. Would be a completely futile move anyway, the High Court's just ruled that the federal Act covers the field. Any Act by any State or Territory is going to fail for the exact same reasons.

    Correct, and the High Court said as much in the opening line of their judgment - they were there to rule on the constitutional legality of the ACT legislation, not make a decision as to whether or not homosexual marriage should or should not be legal. That's the job of the Federal Parliament.
