List Mgmt. Jeremy Cameron traded to Geelong

Must be pathetic to be so xenophobic you’ll attack any opposition poster purely because of what team they support. I haven’t said anything about last year, or my team (other than my previous post). Cameron is the first RFA to have his offer officially matched. I’m interested in how it gets...

We don’t have much going on this trade period.

Didn’t stop Peter Bell going back there, becoming captain and now a senior figure in management.

Picks 13, 20 and 37 to Carlton for picks 8 and 29 (Carlton to use one of the high picks to get Saad and keep the other one) Pick 8, 29 and a fringe player (say Constable) to GWS for Cameron and pick 43. Leaves Geelong with picks 15 and 43, and next year’s first. Reasonable?

Yeah that’s the sort of thing I was thinking about. I don’t know why clubs don’t do it more often with RFAs. Adelaide and St Kilda may still do something similar I suppose.

Nice try. Before GWS officially matched I proposed other trades in this thread involving Geelong overpaying in a trade in return for GWS not matching. The concept is fine. Geelong getting pick 10 and Cameron out of the deal is not something that GWS would have ever agreed to.

And you trade up into the top ten. I understand the concept of doing a trade involving the magic compo pick, but I think you would’ve needed to give more up in return for GWS declining to match.

So you would’ve gotten Cameron and pick 10 in return for 14 and 16? That doesn’t seem like the sort of trade that GWS would want to do.

Players who aren’t offered a contract by their club are eligible to move as delisted free agents. Players who reject a contract and walk out aren’t. Otherwise why wouldn’t every big name just do that rather than sit around and hope their team agrees to a trade?

Pretty sure on-trading players hasn’t ever been allowed.

That’s an odd line from Clark. North for example delisted about a dozen players, if there was the possibility of getting a Coleman Medalist for free in the PSD I’m sure they could manage to pass their last pick in the ND.

Do you have the list spots to bring in someone like Blakely? As it is you’re looking like pushing guys like Constable and Narkle out the door, and I think they’re both upgrades on Blakely. It’s why I think selling someone cheap is more likely to work out than bringing in someone and overpaying...

Clark to Freo, Hogan to GWS, pick 51 to Geelong?
  14. Miguel Sanchez

List Mgmt. Jeremy Cameron traded to Geelong

It’s not up to Geelong to push a trade, unless and until GWS officially match. At that point the magic compo pick disappears and Geelong have to dip into their own stash of picks and players to get Cameron out of Sydney. I think it’s your interests to work out a deal with GWS that involves them...

I only chucked him in as an example because GWS were reportedly interested in him.

Since GWS want players, what about sending them someone like Ratugolea (for example) for a meaningless late pick in return for them not matching? Could be done under the guise of getting his salary off the books to fit in Cameron. E.g GWS get Ratugolea and pick 11 (compo pick), lose Cameron and...

News Tim Kelly traded to West Coast - ***Opposition fans read the OP***

That’s a good point. Another good point is that if we got pick 3 off Melbourne for Gaff we’d just send Kelly to the draft in the knowledge that Gold Coast wouldn’t be using picks 1 or 2 on him. Which would make the deal: Melbourne: give up 3, get Gaff. West Coast: give up Gaff, get Kelly...

News Tim Kelly traded to West Coast - ***Opposition fans read the OP***

Gaff is two years and a month youngerolder than Kelly and is remarkably durable, missing one game through injury since 2012. And he’s arguably a similar quality player, you could make the argument that Kelly is slightly ahead but not “a much better player”. And he’s contracted and not looking...

News Tim Kelly traded to West Coast - ***Opposition fans read the OP***

Gaff’s being massively undervalued. He’s a contracted star player who hasn’t indicated he wants to move. In a completely open market you could maybe argue he’s worth slightly less than Kelly, but this isn’t a completely open market. It’s a trade situation where an uncontracted Kelly wants out...

If the later pick swaps are your pick 17 for our pick 61, maybe.

The clubs don’t seem to have been able to get any of the smaller, non-controversial games done on the first day so getting the biggest and most hard-fought one done in two days seems optimistic in the extreme. Still, wouldn’t be the most outlandish statement made on TR.

Apparently we pump a lot more resources into sports psychology and player welfare, could be part of it

I’m not sure it’s a gentlemen’s agreement or if it’s just that we haven’t been interested in the same players. Hogan and Lobb didn’t fill a need for us, Wilson said he hated West Coast, Ross Lyon reportedly didn’t rate Yeo (great call), etc.

True, they’re unlikely to be in flag contention in 2020 so there’s no real benefit in getting him now, other than insuring against a change of heart. I don’t get their interest in him anyway, I don’t see how he fits in their forward line until Buddy retires. Maybe they think that’s close.

Daniher and Papley are both contracted though, so it’ll take something special to prise them out of their current clubs. That inflates their value. (I wouldn’t be giving a top ten pick for either of them tbh)

Not aware of any other than Cousins. Kerr had some time in remand because his parents refused to bail him out to send him a message.

That seems a little pessimistic. You were minor premiers this year and you're not losing anyone else of note. With another year of development into Clark, Miers, Constable, Ratugolea etc I don't see a reason why you can't go again next year.

Fair point. But you guys don't seem to want him and he doesn't seem to want to leave, I don't really understand why his name even comes up so frequently. Once again, I just want to dissuade everyone from any notion that I work for West Coast, in their list management or otherwise. I have as...

That looks like the sort of “rolling over” I was referring to yesterday. That’s a terrible deal for Geelong. No chance in hell that’s happening. If that poster does know someone inside the club, then that person is having a lend of him.
