    Probably fair too.

Unofficial Preview Preliminary Final: Lions v Pies - 5.15 Saturday 20 September

Might be coincidence more than anything, but I love that Fagan has reintroduced the Big O right as the whips are cracking. What a motivational tool to pull him out the front and get the boys up and going to get him a flag. It’s going to be hot, if we can get the uncontested mark game going and...

Review Semi Final, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. Gold Coast

His talk in the last quarter about whether we considering a rebuild was absolutely putrid.

Well said. There are few moving parts, but without much draft capital available we are constrained to FA selections when it comes to bringing in higher level established players. When it comes to FA much depends on the year. We got lucky with Joe being available when we were hitting our straps...

Likely to only get worse with the league expanding further, too. As mentioned elsewhere, I'd be looking at how we can innovate with our forward setup. They're hard to find, but with Charlie’s steep decline, I think a genuine list need is a small forward with strong tackle pressure. I’d hope...

Review Qualifying Final, 2025 - Geelong vs. Brisbane Lions

Fantastic summary. Gallop, L Ashcroft and Day all had nights they’d want to forget in their first finals. Absolutely. We’ve actually done a remarkable job to finish top 4, with the injuries and our draw. Any side would have struggled to cover our injuries this year. Even the fact guys like...

If the full reco does happen, I wonder if the noise around Mitch Lewis might pick back up again. Has been injured too, but has talent and might be gettable. Other than him, can’t think of too many others.

Review Qualifying Final, 2025 - Geelong vs. Brisbane Lions

Gardiner was a bright spot. They choked up the corridor, went to work on our play makers and we had no plan B that we could execute. Fort did some nice things, but his positioning was definitely poor at stoppages. I have been against it, it tonight showed why we are after Draper. Ridley too...

He is from the NT, and has lived in Queensland since. I am hoping the weather is going to be a deterrent for him to move south!!

I think Starce goes to Dangerfield. I’d be very confident with that match up too.

Especially against Stanley this week, who was - to the eye at least - nullified by Joe in the second half of the prelim last year.

It’s an omen. The last time we signed one Bombers tall as a FA it resulted in a flag. Sign two… I’m not huge on Draper either, but if they were willing to send Ridley our way through increased compo out of that signing it would be a massive win. That said, surely the Dons will play hardball...

List Mgmt. 2025 List Management Discussion

I think as previous posters have pointed to, if we can position our offer for Draper to net top shelf compo it might help sway the Bombers to release him. That or packaging up the picks we receive for Ah Chee and Starcevich (assuming Eagles are forced to trade if/when the AFL knocks back their...

Prediction 2025 All Australian team and squad

Agreed - and to be honest, Bailey Dale. He fills his boots agains the lower ranked sides, but arguably isn't as impactful as Zorko or Ash against the top 8 teams. He misses for mine.

Unofficial Preview Qualifying Final 2025 v Cats @MCG.

That's a good point. The handball, tackling, high pressure game would more suit Bruce, and the run and spread would more suit Marshall. So, it will be interesting to see who out of Bruce and Marshall gets the nod as sub (assuming Berry and Neale come in for Tunstill and Gallop).

List Mgmt. 2025 List Management Discussion

Agreed. I don’t like strengthening rival sides in any way, and still haven’t got over WC selling the farm for Kelly which allowed the Cats to nab Cameron. That said, the Crows lack midfield talent which Ah Chee won’t cover. Bringing in Allen, along with potentially Draper and McGovern whilst...

List Mgmt. 2025 List Management Discussion

Ty Gallop impressed last night with his willingness to chase and tackle. He’s still raw but he’s definitely got some good attributes. Personally, I don’t see us signing Allen as being an issue for him at all. He’s still learning his craft and having another experienced forward around the place...

Review Round 24, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. Hawthorn

I’d it’s likely Starcevich will go to Dangerfield. Stengle will be the interesting one with no Answerth. In his prime Gardiner was able to play both tall and small, so he might be given that role.

Agree. Also felt like he was back to somewhere near his best tonight. Looked more ready to draw and make contact. He’s a vital member of our back 6.

List Mgmt. 2025 List Management Discussion

I remember many here lamenting the fact we couldn’t access the likes Paton and co when the Giants and Suns came in. The last couple of drafts with the Academy and F/S talent has meant some struggling clubs have been unable to access some top end talent which I think they do have a right to be...

Review Round 23, 2025 - Fremantle vs. Brisbane Lions

Thought the likes of Marshall, Bruce and Lester were all very good last night. I haven’t been as full of praise for Bruce as others, but last night he was clean on the ground, held his opponent out and made good decisions by foot. Developing nicely.

Promising to know re Payne. I thought it was around the same rehab time as an ACL, but end of April would be nice. Not so sure on Doedee. The mechanics of his running look to be impacted by the injuries he has had. Also, he’s had a few ‘outs’ due to not being able to pull up from games. History...

I'd love Khamis or Arnold too. However, it's unlikely we have the picks to get either done. If we lose Starcevich, and manage to get something back, I'd be going after them no doubt. McGovern is comfortably better than the others I mentioned before and would have undoubtedly played a fair chunk...

List Mgmt. 2025 List Management Discussion

Hear me out… McGovern would be a better option than Doedee, Brain or Joyce. Payne gone for a fair chunk of next year, and Starc a potential out. If the dollars weren’t ridiculous I’d be happy enough with him as coverage. Can take a good intercept mark, and is relatively reliable by foot. Has...

List Mgmt. 2025 List Management Discussion

Would be sad to see Ah Chee go, but not surprising given we have to delicately balance our list with the youth we've got to (fortunately) accommodate as they progress to their next contracts. That said, there are others I'd rather lose who are commanding reasonable dollars yet are nowhere near...

    Unofficial Preview Round 23, Friday, August 15th 8.20pm AEST @Optus v Dockers.

Sadly, Doedee ran a lot like Alex Johnson on the weekend. It was very apparent yesterday that his body isn’t up to it. I totally understand the signing, and that he’s been unlucky doing an ACL upon arrival, but it’s crazy to think he’s still got two more years. Outs: Marshall, Bruce and Doedee...
