Review Preliminary Final, 2025 - Collingwood vs. Brisbane Lions

To be fair I think he was asked about it. Which is unsurprising too. Personally I like him. He was a smart player and (I think I am correct in saying) that like fages he comes from a teaching background.

Review Preliminary Final, 2025 - Collingwood vs. Brisbane Lions

I've been watching footy for a little while now, and I find I can't help but compare these young guys to players I've seen along the way. I've said for a while that Logan Morris gives me Jack Riewoldt vibes, but Ty Gallup now has me thinking of Stewart Loewe, once he is a fully mature body he...

Review Round 12, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. Essendon

The bombers fans near us were all great. Happy for them to have seen some spark from their boys, so long as we got the chocolates.

Review Round 12, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. Essendon

Not even the lowest point of the last 7 weeks. Granted the third quarter was as poor as we have played in a long time,

Review Round 12, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. Essendon

Gardiner is not a forward but he did shifts rucking and was no worse than Hipwood. Cal started brightly and even as he drifted out of the game tried to add some forward 50 pressure. Hugh easily BOG, but I also found votes for Jaspa, and Dunkley topped the tackle count which I think always...

Review Round 8, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. Gold Coast

In a dour greasy defensive game where the suns has only scored 4 at the twenty minutes mark of the fourth quarter and their big name forward had one mark all game, and their strongest midfield creator was kept pretty quiet I would have hoped the Ashcroft medal.might have gone to recognise one of...

Review Round 8, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. Gold Coast

I am annoyed at another three goal win when we were easily six goals better but the 4 points are good and The umpires officiated the last five like they had an 18 point spread to get under. There were calls for the GC that would never have been made if it was ever going to impact the result.

    Review Round 7, 2025 - St.Kilda vs. Brisbane Lions

There are kids who started following the club when we wore that jumper. There are fans whose earliest experience of the club was in that jumper. It wasn't a good jumper, we should never have changed from the premiership lion, but remember, all of our history is somebody's history.

    Review Round 7, 2025 - St.Kilda vs. Brisbane Lions

11 tackles from Hugh. His sharing the load with Dunks this year has taken his game to another level and turned him into full mid contributor.

Review Round 5, 2025 - Western Bulldogs vs. Brisbane Lions

Fair enough, to half time that's a fair call.

Review Round 5, 2025 - Western Bulldogs vs. Brisbane Lions

I appreciate they were consistent all day and they were calling it early, but he umpires calling not 15 when the ball had gone 20-25 got a bit annoying. Great day for Eric but Hugh and Jaspa have been my picks over the first four games and were great again today.

Review Round 4, 2025 - Richmond vs. Brisbane Lions

Agreed, he is also one of our most reliable set shots and has a good footy brain.. He reminds me very much of Craig McRae

Review Round 4, 2025 - Richmond vs. Brisbane Lions

Though i thought Bailey was lucky to get paid a mark in front of the sticks after the mid air hack from Will Ashcroft, i would need to see a tape measure be convinced that had gone 15😃. Overall I thought we did ok from the Umps, the tigers youthful enthusiasm caught them out in a few places...

Review Round 4, 2025 - Richmond vs. Brisbane Lions

We were at least eight goals better than them all day so it was disappointing to only win by 5. Thought Fletcher was great , and Hugh with his tackling as an added weapon in his game was very special. I wanted to step away from the obvious votes though and gave some kudos to Bruce, he had a...

Review Round 2, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. West Coast

The other thing I would say for Cal, (and hopefully we see it again soon) is he fits well with Charlie in the side. Cal is a great pressure forward, and a great, strong straight runner. Charlie is a more elusive type with genuine speed but also elusive quickness. Having both of those options in...

Review Round 2, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. West Coast

Hippy wasn't 'the' difference but his third quarter certainly made a difference both inside the 50 and further afield. He got others into the game and made more for himself

Unofficial Preview Lions 2024 B&F Discussion

No. They have a criteria and there is no limit to the number of players who can hit the criteria and get votes, but if you don't hit the criteria you don't get votes. Do your role is worth one vote, do your role and and beat your opponent is worth two votes poor play won't get you votes.

Unofficial Preview Lions 2024 B&F Discussion

Not really. Zorks and Lachie were tied before finals. Lachie got best finals player Zorks didn't. Therefore we knew Lachie must have got more votes over the finals and would win with Zorks second.

Sydney is such a ****weak club (premiership edition)

I know this is not in the spirit of this thread but as someone who generally lurks here without posting I wanted to give a shout out to the big footy lads (and lasses) from both teams who make this thread a good read with quality banter. The AFL has tried to manufacture a Brisbane v Sydney...

Review Grand Final, 2024 - Sydney vs. Brisbane Lions

Yep. Even when we went two goals down I wasn't too worried. The talk before a granny is always how hot the first 5 or ten minutes are. I thought we came in hot, Sydney were luke warm and lucky.

Review Grand Final, 2024 - Sydney vs. Brisbane Lions

This. I'm not planning on leaving anytime soon, and i certainly won't begrudge another one or two, but in an 18 team comp, if you see your team win 4, then you've had your share 😃 Also shout out to the AFLW, 'cause there were more than a couple of times in the last ten years where they were...

Review Grand Final, 2024 - Sydney vs. Brisbane Lions

For twenty years we (or at least) i have been comparing our team to the three peat side. That side was special and likely never to be repeated but it is fantastic to reforge a new legacy and chapter and do it their way. I felt that that first win in 2001 allowed us to draw on the Fitzroy...

Review Grand Final, 2024 - Sydney vs. Brisbane Lions

An honour to be at the G yesterday, wearing a (bears) scarf i bought in 1995 and wore watching Chopper Ashcroft in the 2001 GF. No passengers yesterday but wanted to give shout outs to a few who might not feature too much in the votes. Charlie missed his first shot, but then laid two tackles...

Review Round 21, 2024 - St. Kilda vs. Brisbane Lions

I don't know if we are a 'much' better team than last year. Rayner and Berry are playing better, Hugh's goal kicking is better. But I think Charlie and Joe were both in better form this time last year and we are missing Coleman's X factor. Having said that the manner in which Fages has adjusted...

Review Round 20, 2024 - Gold Coast vs. Brisbane Lions

I'd like the Suns to succeed. If we win the flag this year I would even be ok with them winning a QClash or two in the coming decade.

Review Round 20, 2024 - Gold Coast vs. Brisbane Lions

Except everybody wants to claim a rivalry with Collingwood. Three of our 5 GFs are against them but there was 20 years between them. If we and them stay competitive and meet in a few more big games in the next couple of years maybe it gets back up there.

Review Round 20, 2024 - Gold Coast vs. Brisbane Lions

He certainly got a vote from me. Since the bye Rayner using his strength and Hugh hitting the scoreboard have been two of the great keys to our form imo.

Review Round 20, 2024 - Gold Coast vs. Brisbane Lions

It was very much a bend don't break team defensive effort. They kept coming and we kept them at arms length. Had we allowed them to get a run of goals it could have destroyed is but the leadership of Zorko down back, to reset, refocus and celebrate the wins kept us on top all match.

Review Round 18, 2024 - West Coast vs. Brisbane Lions

I thought we were in control the whole match in difficult circumstances. Couldn't shake them but weren't really bothered by them either. Better defensive balance needed going forward.
