    Indulge us a little doomposting.
  2. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rookies

Luke Beecken debuting for the Lions tomorrow night. Could be sub, but plays a SC-relevant game.
  3. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rookies

Ty Gallop in for the Lions. First year player but physically mature and may do some relief ruck. Sticky pair of hands and likes a tackle.
  4. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rookies

I'd wait and see on Lohmann's injury. You've also got McLachlan kicking bags in the VFL and Sam Marshall improving all the time. Add in Coleman, Doedee and maybe Starcevich (possibly) return in coming weeks and thus pushing Fletcher and maybe Wilmot further up field... So, JS not great. Was...
  5. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rookies

Sub watch on Lash this week. Sapping conditions last week + Lohmann and Cameron likely back in. McKenna still likely sub, but can an eye/ear out.
  6. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rucks

Day will likely be in the Lions side this week. Would have played last week, except his father passed away.

The same people have probably written off Bont already amd traded him out.

Levi still expected for R0, although could be sub early on. If maintains the same trajectory as his brother, that period probably wouldn't last very long though. Might be like a nice Malaysian curry - a slow burn. Had heard Will had left the track early a couple of weeks ago, but nothing since...

Maybe, but at 32, he's a calf ping away from facing some serious time off.

Most rookies would be in the same boat, no?

It's all the fault of the Academies, I tells ya.
  13. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rucks

Switched from Gawn to Meek myself. Different bye to Xerri and satisfies my no-over-30s rule. It bite me on the arse, but you can't continue to expect the same rucks to pump out the same numbers. Past seasons have taught me that although you might miss the big captain scores occasionally...
  14. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rucks

Plus if you're set on Xerri, all of TDK, English and Sweet have the same R12 bye. I normally have a no-ovr-30 rule, but Maxy's in my team. Meek is the only other one I'm considering.
  15. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rucks

Very true, you never know. I thought some of his games last year were handy enough. Then there's Brandon Ryan, but he's coming from a long way back.
  16. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2025 Rucks

No real indication at this early stage. If it's Fort, Big O might spend a little more time forward, so the split is closer to 50/50. They could go with Henry Smith (who should be a ruck/fwd in SC) it's likely to be more like it was with Joe in the team.
  17. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

Didn't see it myself, but Luke Beecken was close to BOG for the Lions twos on the weekend. Depends on McKenna's ankle. JS would be poor though at a guess.
  18. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

Having watched Tom for a few years, I don't think there's much danger. Edit: I don't want to be overly denigrating to Tom. Lovely bloke from all accounts and gives his all. But has never been SC relevant. Would've been interesting if he never had the break from footy to play basketball.
  19. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

Another Lions debut: Shadeau (pronounced “shadow “) Brain. Listed as a forward, but plays off HB.
  20. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

23 is the new 30? Reville should see a bit of footy, but he did pick up a corky during the game apparently, so could be a sub risk this week. But he's a good user of the footy and with Coleman missing, we could use that. Has been the best most weeks in the twos.
  21. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

Our injury list makes it likely, although heard he picked up a corky mid-game, hence the lower TOG number than you might expect on a team down to two on the bench and playing another debutant who played 4 quarters in the ressies that afternoon.
  22. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

    Half-right, he's 20.
  23. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

Keep an eye out: Bruce Reville, mature ager MID/FWD 102K putting together a good patch of form for Lions reserves. Still rookie list so watch for anything saying he's been elevated.
  24. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

It's how you play, not how you measure. $117K FWD. Not sure he'll get named this week, otherwise there might have been an announcement from the club, but is getting closer.

    Position 2024 Rookies

I think Lyons will be back to sub/VFL soon - no defensive spread and just too vanilla these days.

    was close to happening too
  28. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

got a... um... wrist injury. But your point is valid, selecting Lohmann is a risk. Unless he stuns in the first few games, he'll be 21-24st pick most weeks.
  29. The Flying Belgian

    Position 2024 Rookies

Lohmann is effectively in the side for Dev Robbo. I expect Ah Chee to be in the side covering for McKenna's absence.
