Academy Rorts - The 2025 Draft Thread

I assume (based on nothing but contract status) that Robertson, Tunstill and Torrent will all be moved on. That's 3 out, with Annabel only as an in. FWIW - I hope we keep Robertson and Tunstill as depth. Both are AFL quality, are physically developed and better than anything else we'd pick up...

    Supercoach - Draft League

Hi all, Long time community member, rare poster, 2024 premiership celebrator. Is anyone keen on doing a Supercoach Draft Keeper League? I'm happy to set it up and run as commissioner Rules would be max 10 teams (first in best dressed), top 5 make finals. 30 players, 20 on field, keep 20...

Preview Round 21 - St. Kilda v Brisbane Lions (Sunday, 4 August 2024 at Marvel Stadium)

Hey guys, For tomorrow's game, does anyone know what time the Lions players will do their kick around on the oval prior to their running out for the game? Hoping to take the kid to meet some players if we get the timings right

I'd be looking at Flynn Young from Werribee as a smoky replacement for Linc. Only played a handful of VFL games but is a very crafty goal kicker.

Grand Final Week Event Info (mostly 2023 but also 2001)

There were murmurings of a walk to the MCG from the Rose Hotel in Fitzroy at 12 p.m., but I have since been unable to find any information on it. Any other pubs doing similar for Lions fans? I'm travelling solo from regional Vic on the morning of the game and am keen to be around other BL fans...

Preview Preliminary Final: Geelong Cats v Brisbane Lions - 7:50 PM Friday the 16th of September

His foot skills are too good to just let him roam free up the ground, he would cut us up. I think he is too athletic for Andrews so Payne gets first go I guess. Very concerning match up as im not sure any of our defenders can physically go with him (aside from Starcevich but he's too small)...

Preview Preliminary Final: Geelong Cats v Brisbane Lions - 7:50 PM Friday the 16th of September

Joe is just as likely to kick 7 as he is to have a stinker. He is what he is. Sometimes we will love him, sometime we will hate him. He could single handedly win us the game on Friday night. That's why we recruited him.

Preview Preliminary Final: Geelong Cats v Brisbane Lions - 7:50 PM Friday the 16th of September

Picked us to beat the Tiges - albeit in a close one. Picked us to push the Dees - said the margin would be less than 15 points. Wasn't sure which way it would to go. I think we are capable of beating the Cats. Being at the MCG helps us. At GMHBA, the Cats use the narrow width of the ground to...

Review Semi Final, 2022 - Melbourne vs. Brisbane Lions

Leading into the game, I had a weird feeling that it would be close and we were better than a 50-50 shot to beat them. Chucked $50 on us at $4.40 with Sportsbet. Even when Joe Daniher went out - I thought it would help us as Fullarton is more mobile and could provide more defensive pressure...

List Mgmt. 2024 Father Son watch MKIII. Operation Ashcroft jnr. Featuring various academy boys.

Without knowing the context of the original quote. It's incredibly difficult and often unfair to be a top up player at an AFL aligned VFL club. I have a friend who was at Casey, he would get in their best players and then still be dropped the next week because an player who played in his...

https://themongrelpunt.com/afl-season-2022/2022/08/16/the-get-out-of-jail-marks-round-22-results-and-leaders/ McStay is in the top handful in the comp for this stat. I think if we don't look to find a replacement (whether from internally or externally) in the off season, we may feel his absence...

Funniest crowd comment you have heard at a Lions game

Overheard in the Lions section at the Dee's game at the MCG earlier this year. "Oh Steven May is back, I was wondering why there were so many security guards on the fence tonight."

Preview Round 16 Lions vs Bulldogs Thursday June 30th @ 7:20 PM Brisbane Time @ The Gabba

While I 100% agree with your sentiment and I don't feel he's ready just yet. It's worth noting that the club really rate Tunstill. They think his ceiling is not far off McCluggage's and right now (rightly or wrongly) he has gone past Robinson for that wing role.

I would suggest that giving Lachie an extra couple of years may be part of a bigger move to allow us to smooth his contract and create more money for McStay. Considering that they have pulled the Neale deal off, I wouldn't be surprised if McStay re-signs in the next six weeks.

Prediction Future of Josh has gone to the Dogs.

I don't think he is a douche, or a bad bloke. Just a self conscious kid who probably has anxiety issues. I think we should cut him some slack. Lots of self conscious kids out there these days, particularly with the rise of social media. Social media is one of the major reasons more and more...

Absolutely no doubt there is. But not many would recognise an AFL player, particularly a young one with a low profile.

Prediction Future of Josh has gone to the Dogs.

Josh is a pretty self conscious guy, who was hoping that being an AFL footballer meant that he would be able to go out meet girls, get high 5's from hangers on and be a 'legend'. Has since figured out that in comparison to Melbourne, no one in Queensland gives a f**k about footballers and it's...

Analysis Is Rocky the Right Man for the Job?

All players are contracted for next season with exception of Green & Gardiner. So unless you are suggesting we will delist either one of those, i would very much expect to see one or two players delisted and then re-rookied. I also wouldnt be surprised to see us move out one of this years picks...
