VFL VFL 2025 - Geelong & the greater league

According to Chris Scott in the post game presser that’s why they didn’t give him a run against the tigers. They decided he would be better off having a full game in the VFL today rather than 20 minutes in the AFL yesterday.

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion Part 2

Agree…this thread is about Vic bias, there might be an argument that it’s justified but there’s no argument that it doesn’t exist.

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion Part 2

There’s a number of systems that can work but I don’t think we can call it a fair national competition while the gf is always at the g. This just seems to me a fair, relatively easy and obvious change to make.

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion Part 2

What will the stadiums and attendances be like in 20, 40, 60 years? You’re thinking about the situation now which is fair enough whereas i’m thinking more about fairness, growing the game and making it a true national competition.

Mega Thread VICBias - Genuine Discussion Part 2

If I were in charge of the AFL commission I’d make 2 changes: 1. Rotate the Grand Final through the clubs…Victoria would still have roughly half the finals…seems a fair compromise and it would be good for the development of the game. 2. Melbourne teams share the ‘G and Marvel. The big games are...

Rumour GFC 2025 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 1

I recall listening to a long time Australian Cricket physiotherapist on SEN a couple of years ago talking about big fast bowlers. He basically said they nursed them for the first 5 years because that’s how long they took to grow into their bodies and become consistently reliable and durable...

Game Day 2024 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

agree we don’t need to trade up and also agree with your choice of players with potential…but I’m not sure players need AFL games to develop potential. Both Mannagh and Humphries were consistently dominating the VFL and, when they got their chance, they knew they had earned it and weren’t going...

Game Day 2024 AFL Draft Live discussion Rd1, 2-4 and Rookie Draft

Or even one “hit” from the draft is enough for me. One from the draft, one from a trade (Smith?), one of the youngsters breaking out (Clark?) gives us 3 new players which is enough to keep us ticking over. Last year we had Mannagh, Humphries, Dempsey. Anything more (Martin, Conway, Knevitt...

List Mgmt. Welcome Bailey Smith - officially (and finally) traded to Geelong

Responded to a post earlier where someone asked who was next to Danger in a photo, someone said it was Tom Stewart but he’d had a haircut…it’s actually Phil Davis🤷

List Mgmt. Welcome Bailey Smith - officially (and finally) traded to Geelong

Actually Phil Davis…now retired from Giants but he and Paddy would have been drafted around the same time for the Crows.

Rumour GFC 2025 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 1

Shannon works with Gerard Majda (sp?) (BodyMajic) who’s a legendary personal trainer in WA. Works with many athletes but predominantly AFL footballers. Here’s a link to a podcast Shannon did with him maybe 12 months ago…interesting listen. (This one Apple but I’m sure it’ll be on other platforms...

Rumour GFC 2024 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 2

You’re thinking of the wrong definition of “forward”. In this instance it’s not a person who plays in the front half of the ground, it’s who Geelong plays in the future. This guy’s been a long term employee of the GFC whose sole role at the GFC is to study who Geelong plays in the next 1, 2, 3...

Game Day RD 16 Geelong v Essendon Sat Jun 29 730pm @ MCG

That’s a great jumper…amazing to see all their original clubs presented in that way. Tempted to buy but I’ve got a few untouched in the cupboard already so better not. Thanks for sharing🙂.

    Preview RD 16 Geelong v Essendon Sat Jun 29 730pm @ MCG

Also Edwards was in the Freo Academy so if Geelong, or any other club, wanted him he would have to have been taken prior to pick 40….Edwards was tipped to go late first/early second so I imagine Geelong would have been fairly happy to get him where they did.

Although technically they wouldn’t be a free agent because they have chosen to not exercise their free status.

Rumour GFC 2024 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 1

Only true if we don’t recruit a free agent from another club. Three possibilities if Tyson decides to leave: 1. We get compensation 2. We recruit a free agent from another club and lose compensation 3. We trade for a free agent from another club but keep compensation

VFL VFL 2024 - Geelong & the greater league

What is there are others whose form warrants it more or someone else is playing their position better? There are about 30 players I like to see play in the afl side ant the moment…unfortunately you can’t play them all.

Game Day Rd 10 Geelong v Gold Coast Thu May16 730pm at TIO

…I actually don’t think they have…I know the cats have the Djilang Program but that’s a little different than changing the team’s name. I’m open to being proved wrong however….also it’s semantics in a sense as, I think, Geelong is just the European spelling of Djilang, they’re pronounced the...

Game Day Rd 10 Geelong v Gold Coast Thu May16 730pm at TIO

If this post refers to the fact that Geelong has not (and for that matter never) changed its name to an Indigenous one…well, there’s a very good reason for that….demonstrates ignorance on a few matters in fact.

How do we stop the slingshot run and carry 2024 gameplan

Kick goals and then go back to the centre for a 6:6 forward line set up at the bounce. A throw-in in the forward line with a 50:50 chance is even preferable to a behind which allows the oppo to set up for a fast transition. All Geelong’s permanent forwards are now accurate kicks for goal...

    Senior 11. Mitchell Edwards (2023 - )

Just watched the interview with Mitch on the club website. Seems a nice kid. He speaks well and comes across as humble….yet quietly confident and determined. Clearly has an amazing athletic profile and fingers crossed he’s got the work ethic and necessary dedication to take full advantage.

List Mgmt. Mid Season Draft 2023

I’m thinking the selection of Quinton was partly tactical. He’s one of Esava Ratugolea’s best mates and I suspect you guys still have the intent to get him on your list for next year. Sad for us🙁.

Rumour GFC 2023 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt1

Port taking Narkle…intriguing. One of Esava’s best mates. I suspect Port are still be keen on Esava and I wouldn’t be surprised if their friendship was a factor in deciding to draft Quinton🙁.

Love the podcast but also love the interviews you do after the game, for example, the one this week with Mitch Knevitt. Unfortunately, I’ve missed some this season. Any chance they can be made available through the K-Rock app, or added to this thread or even made part of your podcast. Thanks in...

Oppo Camp Non Geelong football (AFL) discussion 2022, part II

I like the Tiger kids…: Gibcus, Sonsie, Clarke, Nyuon and Cumberland all look good and all got games last year. They should be better. They’ve got others good kids as well. From memory in the 2021 draft they had 5 picks in the top 30. Their midfield was their weakness and they’ve reversed that...
