Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

Exactly. And those are two things (endurance and strength) that you can build. He's starting to show his natural talent.

Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

Thank you. Finally, people are starting to see Clark's potential. These little signs of class have been there all along. Give the lad another pre-season to build his fitness and strength and he will become an important part of the team. And then I look forward to seeing plenty of folks over in...

Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

That's arguably the most important thing about this win. We've been a good side the last couple of years, without a great midfield. And we've managed to work out how to win without dominating in there. Now pit peak-Dangerfield in there, with Atkins playing the best footy of his career, along...

Oppo Camp Non Geelong football (AFL) discussion 2025, Part 2

That was really poor form. I sincerely hope if it were a Geelong player we'd be better than that as a fan base. Or at least that we woudn't be on here trying to justify it after the game like some of them are. Bloody poor.

I've been thinking about Cameron's record in finals. Feels like he never tends to star. Is that right or am I just forgetting some big games in finals from him?

I agree about our even group. And while it's good to have stars and standouts, that's arguably even more important - consistent quality from your whole team.

Review Cats thump Power to the tune of 88 points

They used to play a yidaki ('didgeridoo') sound sometimes when a goal was kicked. I liked that. Still brought some fun energy but was really atmospheric and special, in my opinion.

This. Stewart did it right here. Not always easy, of course, but this is exactly what the AFL wants to see - when you realise contact is inevitable, make some kind of move to cushion or minimise impact.

Absolutely agree. Mullin's sheer athletic traits are pretty incredible. And now he's starting to learn how to read the game. I've been on him from day one and am really happy to see him finding his feet. It just takes some patience sometimes. There's plenty more improvement in him yet.

Review Cats belt Norf by x 1.5 Jezza goal amounts as he kicks 11

He's kicked 75 goals, 63 behinds for his career. Add in a few out of bounds on the full and that's pretty close to 50/50.

Definitely an under-rated player. Has been in career-best form of late. Really hope to see him back out there and firing!

Oppo Camp Non Geelong football (AFL) discussion 2025, Part 2

Calling Toby Greene sly is generous. He plays dirty. Always has. Seemingly always will. He may be a good player but is a terrible choice for captain. Apparently he's not very good at the off-field leadership stuff. So that leaves his on-field efforts. The fact that he consistently gets pulled...

Cats coaches votes: running tally and analysis

That's a great sign for Shannon Neale. A lot of folks couldn't see his potential when he came in but he's starting to make it impossible to ignore. And with consistency. In fact, if he remained at this level for the rest of his career, he'd be a handy player. But there's actually no reason to...

List Mgmt. Oisín Mullin re-sign until 2027

Thrilled with this news. Really excellent improvements this year and plenty of signs that the best is still to come. He's an exceptional athlete who is rapidly learning how to be an AFL footballer. Can't wait to watch him him develop in the hoops.

Review Cats belt Norf by x 1.5 Jezza goal amounts as he kicks 11

This is spot on. And Mad_Hatter's comment, too. In fact, Neale was interviewed the other day (on ABC AFL Sunday) and he said he learned from Hawk about the importance of on-field leadership and that he wants to be that kind of player. Nice to hear.

If Stewart doesn't play, who do you think they'll replace him with? I'd be keen for Bews to get a game as he's playing well in the VFL and has done a good job when he's been promoted lately. But are there other moves you think are more likely?

Oppo Camp Non Geelong football (AFL) discussion 2025, Part 2

Carlton are playing terrible footy. But I'm finding the conversation about coach sacking and list purging bewildering. Literally 12 months ago they were one of two form teams of the comp (along with Sydney). They were smashed by injuries and crashed out by the end of that year. And they've...

Review Cats defeat Bombers by 95 points

Yeah, I reckon he'd be happy with where he's landed. And you can already see him starting to do some unique and special things. He can play back, middle, and forward. And he reads the game very well and is a really good kick. I reckon he'll be wanting to get some games under his belt to build...

Review Cats defeat Bombers by 95 points

Beautiful summary. Agree on literally everything except for Close. I think he's been good this year but is playing a defensive role most weeks - dampening their run off half back - that easily goes under the radar, and then getting creative and supporting attacking forays the other way.

Yes! I agree. Reading back I probably understated his progress. I definitely think this is his best season and he's gone to a whole other level, as you said. He's clearly been working hard because he looks so fit and strong. To not just hold Noah Anderson but to get so much footy himself is huge!

Really looking forward to this one. It feels like we're building well into the season. If you're thinking of the one where our player was tipped over after the free was given, I may be wrong but I think it was a bit of a quirk of the rules more than anything. The way I read it was: we got the free, then we took the advantage, then the incident happened which then couldn't be given...

Can't wait to see Martin run out for the Cats. He's a very, very talented footballer. Was an extremely high draft pick back in the day and only injuries have kept him from reaching the heights.
