Rumour GFC 2025 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 2

There's a long way to go before we land Butters. The thing with Worpel is that his strengths are pressure and clearance, which I would say DOES suit us. It complements our current strengths through the middle of the ground, which are our run and ball movement. As someone pointed out earlier in...

Not necessarily. It could easily be an ambit claim that they'll happily move from.

Preview AFL GF 2025: Geelong V Brisbane Sat 27th Sept MCG 320 pm

You can never underestimate Brisbane. They have a stacked side, they've been here before and they know how to win it. There is no room for error - if we're off by even a couple of percent they'll make us pay. But I'm feeling good about this one. We just look like we have a level that is hard...

Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

It’s pure jealousy. They simply can’t get their tiny brains around the fact that our club is better run than their rabble. The fact that we wouldn’t pay TDK $1.8m per year or give Oliver an 8 year contract or whatever it was is what sets us apart from the many incompetents in this industry.

Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

I was saying Stanley for Stewart last night too. But after sleeping on it, it occurs to me that both the Lions and the Pies play pretty short forward lines. Hipwood out for the Lions means they have Morris and Gallup as tall forwards, while McStay being left out for the Pies leaves Mihocek and...

Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

How many high free kicks did Moore get last night? I'm not saying they weren't there, but I am saying he dropped his knees every time a Cat came near him. If you're going to play like that then I think the umpires should be well within their rights to stop rewarding it.

Fully agree. You can build strength and endurance through training, and with each preseason he'll build more of both. What is a lot harder to build is the courage, tenacity and footy IQ that we both agree Clark has more than most. Don't forget the kid's only just turned 21yo. Long way to go.

Review Geelong defeat Hawks "when it matters" by 6 goals to make another Grand Final

You could've said that 3 years ago when we won in 2022. Selwood, Hawkins, Tuohy, Smith (Isaac), Duncan (won't play again), Cuthrie (very likely won't play again)...

Yeah, lets not take that analogy too far... Maybe Man U 1992-2013 resembles Geelong 2004-2058... ;)

Yep, after living through being so shit in the mid '80s and then the heartbreak of the '90s, and not seeing a single flag in my lifetime to that point, it was hard to imagine even just winning one. We are very privileged to have seen this club do what it has done. And hopefully its not over yet!

If it came from a player, fine. But from a coach? No. They need to be better than that. And I say that acknowledging that he wasn't talking directly about Stewart, he was talking about the bye.

I AM a lawyer (or at least I used to be). There is simply no way the club would or should challenge it and put themselves in that position. Drop it Geelong_Sicko.

One of the many reasons why I hate that club. Classless, sniping assholes is the best description I can come up with.

Just, no. The protocols are there for a reason. It's terrible luck for Stewy, but there is no way he should play next week and there is no way he or the club should do anything other than accept that and get on with planning to play with the players we do have available.

I think this is the genius of our development program, led right now by Nigel Lappin. Wellsy and the recruitment team have deservedly gotten a lot of praise over the years for their ability to find diamonds in the rough, but I honestly believe that just as much more credit has to go to the...

Can’t drop anyone from that team. Everyone who played tonight and is fit next week gets a game. Stewart obviously out, I say Stanley in. Sounds like Henry will be fine so leave it at that. Scotty talked about stability in his presser and I think that’s key this time of year. The team that...

Stanley in for Stewart. Blitz to play back to help cover Stewart, with some time in the mid/ruck.

GF is irrelevant, but still should be fine. I’d be dirty if a Cats player went for that.

Atkins was our best player in Q1. I’m optimistic because we have a lot of players down, but that means plenty of upside available and we showed in the last 10 mins of Q2 that it’s there. We just need to find it and bring it out.

Rumour GFC 2025 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 2

Sure, but for every player in history who has gone on to have a good career from there, I'd bet there would be at least 10 who have been unable to overcome their deficiencies and never reached those heights. For the record, I'm not writing him off by any means. I'd also prefer not to trade him...

This illustrates it really well IMO. If we can bring the pressure and get the better of the turnover game (like we did against Brisbane) we'll win. I'm confident in our ability to create turnovers and score from them, but I think our vulnerability is the extent to which we let them score from...

Rumour GFC 2025 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 2

I think he could still be something. I think his main issues are strength and confidence. For mine he needs to chain himself to the weights room over summer and put on at least 5kgs of pure muscle, and then hit Round 1 with some real positive energy. If he can get a couple of good AFL games...

Rumour GFC 2025 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 2

Is he though? He's kicked 92 goals in 60 games for us, which is not a bad return. Not spectacular, but pretty good especially at his age. The problem is that's all he brings at the moment. Outside of a goal and a half a game, he's a liability. There's nothing wrong with hangers and flashy...

I wasn't absolutely certain, but I was pretty confident. What a ****ing horrific day that was. I went with a Hawk supporting mate and at the final siren he turned to me and said, "I'm really sorry mate... but this is probably the best day of my life!" I just shook my head and wandered off. I don't understand the suggestion that MOC should go into the midfield as a "better match up" for Newcombe than Mullin. I think MOC in defence and Mullin in the midfield has been working well for us in recent weeks, and there's no reason to get too clever about it now. As for Mullin not being...
