    The Ruck v the non-ruck

He's getting absolutely slaughtered. Some tackles and contested possessions don't make up for that. Doesn't help that his disposal is horrendous. There have been plenty of examples in the past of undersized players getting a lot of ball in the ruck but still being a massive net loss to their...

    The Ruck v the non-ruck

Trengove is rubbish. It's a massive issue for Port.

Preview 1st Prelim Final: Sydney v North Melbourne, ANZ Stadium, Fri 19th September

Wright won't be dropped. He's been playing at a very high level.

    Daniel Wells

Disagree. BOG on the night and quite possibly the best individual performance from one of our players all season. Best on the night and best player on the list.

    22under22 Team - 2014

Oh and as for Ryan Lester making it. My goodness. Pretty obvious not a lot of thought went into it given he was named in defence despite spending the year in the midfield (and the NEAFL).

    22under22 Team - 2014

GWS getting no love. Harsh to not include Dylan Shiel in the top 45 given he probably deserves to be top 5. Hoskin-Elliot's had a better season than Taylor, Menzel and Billings. Coniglio also unlucky.

Next flag - Carlton, Essendon or Richmond?

Players of at least some value aged 27 or under (any older and they're unlikely to be around for a premiership tilt). Deledio Houli Riewoldt Morris Rance Cotchin Astbury Martin Grimes Miles Conca Ellis Vlastuin Lennon Dempsey Ryder Hooker Myers Bellchambers Hibberd Zaharakis Hurley Carlisle...

    2014 rising star

More than capable. He was Werribee's best player in the finals last year on a wing. That said, he's very good defensively so could end up a Birchall type as well.

    2014 rising star

Was nice to see McDonald released from his defensive roles for the first time this season.

I'm happy with Gray in there. Not copping Breust, Wingard or Elliott.

Champion Data rate Brent Harvey as the best kick in the game and he's getting it 26 times per game, mostly in the forward half. If he was 21 he'd be in every single team.

How far can North Melbourne go?

    Correct.

How far can North Melbourne go?

Brent Harvey aside, Atley's the best kick we have to a leading forward. His kicking at top speed is outstanding. The improvement from his first year is enormous.

How far can North Melbourne go?

Also known as the handball to Atley strategy.

How far can North Melbourne go?

I think the inconsistency is overplayed a bit. Essendon have put up remarkable performances early in seasons the last couple of years. They controlled the footy all game. GC were so ****ing slick that day at Etihad. We just couldn't lay a hand on Bennell and co. It was a scary look into the...

Post your teams best back 6+.

Our strongest position on the field imo. Thompson one of the best, Grima extremely underrated in terms of being a stopper, Hansen one of the best intercept markers and Atley, Mullett, McDonald with speed, height and skills.
  18. Daz

Richmond, North Melbourne, Essendon teams to watch.

Through the difficult part of the fixture, now comes the rest of the fixture the AFL gift wrapped. GC (H) Bris x 2 Geel x 2 WCE (A) Rich Adel x 2 Melb x 2 Haw StK Carl GWS (A) Dogs 4/16 games against likely top 8 teams.

So who is the most underrated player in the AFL?

It's Matt Shaw and he's not particularly good.
  20. Daz

So who is the most underrated player in the AFL?

Daniel Rich - Would be rated so much higher if we didn't have stats. Regularly opens the game up with his kicking. Luke Ball - Not only wins contested ball like few others but is so composed with his disposal under pressure. Cale Hooker - Reads the play so well. Stephen Hill - Can actually...

    Rising Star- Round 4

Won't get the credit he deserves at the end of the year because Dunstan, Kelly et al will have bigger disposal numbers. Pretty rare to see a first year defender not only being impressive defensively but also providing good rebound. As a comparison, Gibbs played in defence in his first year and...

    Majak: Your Prediction

Your post doesn't make much sense, mate. Obviously he played both forward and ruck. In the end it was close to a 50/50 split between the two roles (Currie missed a few games so he had to play #1 ruck a bit). So by your logic it's either 40 hitouts or 3 goals a game (in addition to the tackles)...

    Majak: Your Prediction

Not in 2013. He stepped up to be an excellent VFL footballer. He and Currie were far and away North's best performed VFL players. They just didn't get the opportunities due to Petrie and Goldstein respectively. Check out his numbers. They're very impressive. Better than those of the ultra...

How will your club improve in season 2014?

    - Hurley sometimes playing back, sometimes playing forward - Carlisle sometimes playing back, sometimes playing forward - Crameri gone - Gumby gone - Bellchambers injured - Ryder playing full time ruck only to return to the fwd line when Bellchambers is ready - 5 game beanpole Joe Daniher...

How will your club improve in season 2014?

New Players: Dal Santo and McDonald will be immediate additions to the best 22. Nahas looks a chance as well. Natural Improvement: Ziebell, Bastinac, Cunnington, Atley, MacMillan, Tarrant, Gibson, Mullett, Black and McKenzie are inexperienced best 22 players who should improve. Improved...

Mine are from the AFL Prospectus. NMFC.com also used them (conveniently the very next day after I posted the thread). Mine are only for the senior list. Tas might be including rookies.

That's kind of the point, his development has been amazing. If it continues, he could be something special.
