    Game Day Round 20, 2021: St.Kilda v Carlton

Is there an AFL team with two proper and good tall defenders? I think what we have compares pretty well to what other teams have.

Clark has played that role, so bring him in for Sinclair as a like for like.

Being at a Tier 1 site, he will need to test negative on Day 13 (which would have been before he left WA, meaning it will be later) AND get the OK from the Department of Health to leave isolation. It is now Wednesday, and we play on Friday. The whole process may end up being a little more...

Clark is an interesting one - I'd bring him back through Sandy because he always seems to struggle first up. Higgins in for Kent Marshall in for Hunter Highmore in for Clavarino McKenzie in for Long

The problem is not three players going in for a tackle. The problem is the ball getting out despite three players being in the tackle. It's been a recurring and consistent theme throughout the last decade whenever we play poorly: we don't stop the ball. A tackle where the ball spills free is...

We got within 60 points of a team just last Sunday. ;)

Does seem a lot like Ryder for Carlisle, Webster for someone (I assume Long) and Byrnes for McKenzie.

I'm not sure if there is a replacement for Ryder. The only other pure tap ruckman in the league who comes close to him is Naitanui (not at all available). In the long term I wonder if Max King will have to play some ruck minutes. He is 202cm tall!

Here's the thing: the evidence is in - we don't win if Fabinho is playing at CB. I really think it has to be Philips, Rhys or Davies in at CB this week (or even Robbo with Tsimkas as LB), and let the cards fall as they may.

Also don't underestimate the effect Ryder being back in will have on our forward line because it will now be where Marshall will spend most of his time.

I understand the logic here, but Battle is 23. What is the club doing here if the club isn't developing him in some way? And that gets to my argument, and of some others on here: you can't develop him as a swingman, it's just something some players can do.

Not especially. Most of Sandy's talent (that is, the St Kilda listed players) tended to be in the forward line, so guys like McKernan (whose best is clearly above VFL level, which is why he has been such a frustrating footballer right across his career) didn't need that silver service to get...

    Autopsy Round 6, 2021: Port Adelaide v St.Kilda

It's a reasonable point, but something similar has happened in NFL football with wide receivers and corner backs. The issue there, and probably here, is anyone with genuine height and pace gets trained to play forward so the slightly smaller types end up as defenders playing on them. So 192 cm...

From the half I saw of Sandy last week, it wasn't necessarily Ryder putting it down Dunstan's throat that help Luke get all those touches, but more that Ryder was tapping it to where Port Melbourne couldn't get to it.

    Autopsy Round 6, 2021: Port Adelaide v St.Kilda

The Dermott commentary on Brad Hill was rather sad IMO. Hill's a triple premiership player at Hawthorn, which earns you a special place in Derm's estimation. Rather than offer criticism, Brereton described Hill's inability to play at the required level during the match in the same way a person...

    Autopsy Round 6, 2021: Port Adelaide v St.Kilda

There isn't going to be a resolution to this in this space, but posters like ScrappyDo and myself believe Battle is mobile and tall enough to play CHB, rather than a position in the team being sort of created for him because we feel he should be best 22, as opposed to others who believe the only...

I'm going to flog the dead horse - we had leaders because Grant Thomas had implemented a clear and successful strategy to develop leaders.
