How To Work with tables in forum posts (Xenforo 2.0 - Jan 2019 onwards)

Well thanks again! I've had a play and haven't found any major problems. Just a few minor curiosities, just FYI: It seems essential that the TR and TD tags be on the same line and also both be uppercased. Otherwise it's interpreted as a table with one cell. E.g. this doesn't work, even though...

I think someone tweaked it; the post content seems brighter. It's pretty close to being good! Here's what it would look like with two more changes: (1) Border colors #444 (2) "filter: saturate(0.7) brightness (0.8)" on everything except post content This prevents even very bright signatures...

I prefer dark themes generally, but the Night Mode theme here is no good because it makes the stuff you want to read really dark while a lot of stuff you want to skip over remains bright and eye-catching. See here for example: There are 4 sentences of actual post content here, but they're very...

Here's a simple one: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/poll-who-would-you-rate-as-the-weakest-premiership-side-in-the-afl-era.1179124/page-49#post-53774751 How it used to work: Separate cells with "|", rows with "\", and wrap the whole thing in [ table ] [ /table ] tags. So the above...

Book Review - Footballistics by James Coventry

There can be more than one sport analytics book. It's a huge field.

Seems fixed! :thumbsu: Thank you. Sadly the upgrade has broken every post containing a table -- which is a lot of stats-related ones. Would love to hear if this is going to be fixed.

u wot m8te This has destroyed a whooole lot of my posts. I hope it can be restored. I'd also need to drop BigFooty formatting support from https://predictor.squiggle.com.au.

Book Review - Footballistics by James Coventry

Good review! I also recommend the book -- it's not too technical and illuminates some interesting areas of the game. Some chapters that stuck with me are on the illusion of momentum and the long-term physical burden of travel on Perth teams.

Feedback BigFooty Style Upgrade - Feedback and bugs.

Ever since the style upgrade, site performance has been truly horrendous. (Desktop version, Chrome.) It's just about unusable for me now. It's slow at almost everything, but especially when scrolling. I have a modern PC and I often see the browser visibly struggling to paint the page every time...

The top 5 break out players of 2019

This is a perfect thread for a game of Guess The Poster's Team. You cover up the avatars and score one point for every post where you figure out the poster's team just from their list.

The Squiggle 2018 appreciation thread (and other analytics)

It does seem like AFL Ratings points overweight aging stars on the decline and underweight rising talent who will probably get more games. But this may be wrong; I could believe that Champion Data gets it right more often because humans tend to overrate the chances of the exciting new kids and...

I don't think anyone has published 2019 game-by-game tips yet (not even Squiggle), which AutoTip relies on. They will arrive before the start of the season, but not sure exactly when. Thanks for the feedback!

The Squiggle 2018 appreciation thread (and other analytics)

I mean statistically speaking it's more likely that a team will win about the same number of games next year as they did this year, as compared to winning a lot more or a lot less. Ladders tend to be reasonably static... you notice the bolters but most teams stay roughly where they were.

The Squiggle 2018 appreciation thread (and other analytics)

Carlton are easing toward 5 wins in my more recent forecasts. There is a quirk where the forecast always implies the coming season will be very tight, with 1st on ~15 wins while last wins 4 or 5, even though this is unlikely. That's because someone will suffer a bad run with injury + lose a...

Suffers from a lack of football-related content but otherwise is good, yeah. I really like those Kurzgesagt "In a Nutshell" videos, which have super slick & smart visualizations.
