That says a lot more about the value of pre-draft media hype than it does Taheny. It's unfortunate that the two seasons he had were severely disrupted but he didn't do much to suggest he had a future when he was able to play.
I made a (mean spirited) joke about Knights on twitter and Allen Christensen came rushing to his defence so I guess he does have some fans.
Probably is time for a change, and time for some new voices. I wonder if they promote Grigg and hire a new development coach.
The entire interview is testament to the club's media training - he does a masterful job of not committing to specifics while outline the broad recruitment philosophy that exists. It's pretty good in that regard and reasonably reassuring, albeit I did wonder how much certain parts reflected...
Interesting watching a bit of WA vs SA, the SA midfield group is highly rated in Phantoms etc but really got overpowered by the Sandgropers. How much are those games going to impact recruiters thinking?
Two pretty interesting things out of that: the comparison with Buckley and Longmire and the fact there's the only two coaches ahead of him on number of finals played who did so in the equalisation era, and they're both no longer coaching (I guess temporarily for Clarkson).
Absolutely, I think their list management has been diabolical and clearly the board is dysfunctional. But they still have a core of good players and given how tactically inept they were this year you'd think a proven coach would be able to at least get them to a break even position.
I thought that Stanley putting in a not-great first 10 minutes and then really lifting was important. He's obviously a confidence player who has traditionally struggled to turn things around in a game. That he was able to do so is encouraging, especially when senior players around him weren't...
This isn't accurate: Novavax is not 'much better' than current vaccines, and it's not going to hit the market in Australia next month (probably not until 2022). Given the current situation in Australia you would also be insane to turn down an AZ or Pfizer jab if one was immediately available.
I think the coaches have signalled pretty clearly that they see Narkle, Clark and Holmes as the group who will be immediate reserves for any midfield injuries during finals. With no VFL makes sense to give the other two a run.
It's always hard to tell on TV, because you've got no idea how far or how hard they've been running prior to them coming into shot. But there's been a few this year where's he been jogging as an opponent gets clear - Caleb Daniel's goal right at the end in the Dogs game comes to mind.
