I dunno, I could be overreacting to the bitter end of the season where if we just capitalised on 1 opportunity we win that game. 6 players missed gimmes in that game. Blakey was good towards the end of the season before his injury down back and it just wasn't the same with Melican. With Blakey...
Can't believe the recruiters are still backing in Melican tbh. If Brand played that sort of game he did in the EF that wouldve been an insta-delist. But in Melicans case, they feel the need to back him because... they re-signed him.
Surely this means Reid would get a chance to play down back in the preseason!
The recruiters know the KPD situation is dire and knowing how outplayed Melican was in the EF, it gives Reid a chance. Can't believe I'm saying this.
I think even with the Hewett situation, they are going to be banking on the youngsters to develop even more. If the young midfield group aren't eventually better than Hewett this past year, then we ain't going to win the whole thing anyway. Thus its understandable that they want to see what...
Didn't look like the same player after the comeback after a great 4 games at the beginning of the season and wouldn't be surprised if Beatson and co said enough is enough. At some point availability is the priority.
No doubt the Swans recruiters looked at the Dees performance in the grand final and having 2 ruckmen. And we want to find a way to at least compete with Gawn/Jackson in the ruck. They see that as a viable model. Lets see how it goes.
Keeping 16+31 looks okay imo. Did the best we could. Remember we were high on Ladhams this time last year. Like really high. And now he is a Swan. He sees himself as a #1 ruck for years and years here post-Hickey.
