Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

No more compromised drafts, except for Father Sons, says the Carlton supporter. On a totally unrelated note....

Game Day 2023 Grand Final: Lions v Pies ! (Port hummin still an option in here )

Brisbane have a 1-15 record at the MCG since 2015. So I'll be tipping the Pies.

Beautiful symmetry with your namesakes being from Mt Barker, of course, Kraks. I happened to be there on grand final day last year - nice little town.

Strategy Draft assistance 2023 [Twomey: NMFC get #19 in 2023, x2 end of 1st rd picks in 2024, and x2 extra rookie list spots in 2024; no Sanders/#11]

Us still having Jared Polec's wage under the salary cap isn't inherently different from Collingwood having some of Brodie Grundy's wage under their salary cap. But I don't see anyone criticising them for it this week.

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

In a neat little Venn Diagram, it's worth noting that Sydney's sustained success came only after priority picks were introduced to prop them up in the early 90s.

It's a fact that you are getting worked up about something that has about a 0.001% chance of happening.

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

I don't think many people are anti-father sons, are they? The issue is when a high-ranking team gets one of the best players, which goes against the purpose of the draft. McDonald went two places after he would otherwise have been taken, which ain't that big a deal. Ashcroft going at 2 to a...

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

Selected with our regular first round pick, wasn't he? Pick 8? As opposed to Brisbane, who got to jump about a dozen spots ahead.

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

Criticising someone for speculating five minutes after predicting North Melbourne's round 1 team for 2025 is quite something....

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

Massive difference between Brisbane playing a prelim and then the 2nd pick in the draft vs Jackson Archer going at pick 59, Bailey Scott at 49 or Cooper Harvey at 56.

Well, given he walked out on the Wildcats years ago, perhaps they should have chosen someone else to delist.

The thing about trading for pick 1 is that you have to absolutely nail it. Multiple All-Australians, 250+ games, B & Fs, etc - that level of nailing it. And even then you're hoping that one of the picks you traded away turns into a player who fails miserably. If we get band 1 compo for McKay...

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

I've said it was our poor development in this thread about two hours ago, plus in the Jacob Edwards thread on our board. That's not an issue. In the 1990s, Brett Chalmers rang clubs and said if he was picked by any club other than Collingwood, he'd stay in South Australia. Now, every other...

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

The whole point of a draft is you are open to being picked by anyone. If Hawthorn and Newcombe worked out a deal in advance, that is against the spirit of the draft. It was legal at the time, but the AFL swiftly made it illegal. Yes, North Melbourne could theoretically have chosen him, but...

AFL Grand Final Night Grand Finals When are they coming back?

The 2021 grand final finished at 8.06pm and the cup was lifted at precisely 8.30pm - my photos are time-stamped. That's not super late for kids, on a Saturday night in school holidays.

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

Yes, it was within the rules but by putting a price on his head that they knew no other club would pay, it was still ensuring he got to Hawthorn. Which is against the spirit of an open draft, and that's why they changed the rules. All in here, for the dude who knows nothing about it...

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

No issues with questions over the development of Edwards. But let's not skip over the fact the Hawks tampered with this draft so egregiously that the AFL had to change the rules.

Opinion What unpopular AFL opinions do you have? - Part 2

Yeah, it's funny they call it the Alex Jesaulanko Medal because of a mark in a grand final, which, because only regular season marks count, wouldn't have been eligible to win the award.
