PCEC has at least one Ballroom and a number of meeting rooms that have river views, plus some public areas that also have river views. It could have been so much better, but at least deal in facts.

Fancy lights in support of a cricket match in the next suburb. Never change, WACA, never change. https://www.wacricket.com.au/news/waca-ground-coloured-lights/2022-12-16 In other news, the development is currently listed to be complete in 2025. I'll believe it when I see it.

    The WACA - Downfall

Last I heard was Council were prepared to put in $25m to build it but not the estimated $120m on upkeep over its 40-year expected life. Not sure if anything's changed since then.

    The WACA - Downfall

The super stadium was never, ever, ever, ever going to be at the WACA. It's not possible, nor did anyone want it. Anyway, I'll leave you and your construction engineering expertise to enjoy fantasyland.

And the footy stadium? Another billion or so there you seem to be leaving out of this discussion.

WACA redevelopment would have cost hundreds of millions of dollars, plus another few hundred million in improving transport links, too.

    The WACA - Downfall

Cool, so it’s all Dennis Lillee’s fault then. In mid-2006, the WACA was talking with Rugby WA about hosting the Western Force at the WACA, in a redeveloped and larger facility designed for rectangular sports. They were obviously into it at the time because here's a John Townsend article from...

    The WACA - Downfall

Not really. The Langoulant Report recommended either Mueller Park in Subi or the East Perth Power Station site. It also recommended downgrading the WACA to 10,000 capacity and domestic matches only. Obviously, Barnett came over the top and made it Burswood (which from memory was considered...

Victoria play at the MCG two or three times a year, and that's it.

    The WACA - Downfall

Should make it into something akin to AB Field or Junction Oval, imo. A small grandstand, and grass and trees everywhere else. Perfect for Shield and ODD cricket and WBBL, with BBL and all international games at the vastly superior Optus.

    The WACA - Downfall

Yeah, that's described by the WACA as a pavilion.

    The WACA - Downfall

Problem is that it's in a s**t location, and increasing the capacity would have compounded the problem.

    The WACA - Downfall

There's never been a plan for a new grandstand, it's merely a pavilion. It's all caught up in the shitfight over the pool and other stuff, I think (and the internal shitfight...) They want the world but they want somebody else to pay for it...

Only the WACA would have a redevelopment coincide with the start of the cricket season....

    The WACA - Downfall

And how do the clubs replace the money they miss out on from their own bars, functions, etc? Plus pay for the cost of using the WACA?
