Haven't played since 17-18 but got an emergency call-up to fill in with my old club this week. Throwing me straight into second division. What could possibly go wrong....

Yeah, awful video. The sport sucks at promoting itself.

Perth starting this weekend. I'm out this year - kids are young and bowls is just too much of a commitment so I'll be back in a few years maybe.

One of the best bowlers in Western Australia - Daniel Patterson - was killed in a workplace accident late on Wednesday night. He was 28 years old, had been married for a year and had a three month old son Just heartbreaking. Danno had won the state fours and triples and been runner-up in...

Not me, but a few from our club have gone over the last couple of years. They love it, make a holiday of it. It really shows up how far behind WA is compared to other states - very few make it past the first round, with the notable exception of Kristina Krstic, I think no-one else made it even...

WA can't even put a full state team together in the under 18s. And haven't done so for about three years. State under 18 championships last year had no girls singles or pairs due to lack of entries. And the triples is "any combination". Just a basketcase.

In my first year of bowls (12-13 season) I played against a ten year old kid in sixth division. Little bugger was BOG, gave me an absolute shellacking. Went on to become the youngest premier league player in WA ever (I think he was still only 12), and then won a premiership last season at 13...

Yeah, it's a continuation of the same series rather than a separate competition. It apparently rates so well that Fox Sports wanted it on more often. There has been an interesting/strange discussion in the west about the rule requiring female players. Some think it made the competition of a...

Well that was a disaster. First game - third last end, we are 16-8 up and holding two, skip tries to add the third which would have buried them but over plays it by no more than a foot, gets the kitty and we go three down. We all go to crap in the next end and drop five to be one down and then...

State fours starts over here in the west tomorrow. I am leading for the premier league selector. No pressure! Oh and we managed to draw the group of death, with three of the four skips (including mine) ex-state players.

Only a third division club but big news down Claremont way - Ric Charlesworth has signed on to play pennants this year. Considering his history as an Australian hockey player and cricketer for WA, I reckon he might turn into a handy player.

Hopefully the video above works - I ripped it from someone else's Facebook. Anyway, yesterday saw the final of the Premier League in WA and it was a battle between 2012 winners and minor premiers Cambridge and Bassendean, a club which had never made the finals in the top division in its 82...

Love a Friday night game - not that I've ever played one but I've seen a couple and it's a great atmosphere. They had a go at a few games over here a few years ago but clubs didn't want to keep doing them.

Thought I'd pop in and give an update on the state of play out west. Very interesting situation as we head into the second half of the season. Last year's grand finalists, Victoria Park-Carlisle and South Perth, are currently sitting in the bottom two places on the table, but neither are out of...

    Other Lawn bowls

Season kicks off this weekend in Perth. Heaps of player movements across Premier League and it looks pretty even again this year. Innaloo look to be the main strugglers - their first year in PL ever, I believe - while the other newly-promoted club, Cambridge, are the favourites to take out the...
