Yeah, a huge disappointment. I always thought that if England were a chance in this series, it would come down to him scoring runs & taking at least 5 wickets per match.
I think they might want 30 minutes at them before lunch. Starc for 4 overs with a 40 minute rest afterwards could be very dangerous in both senses of the word.
Can't believe I'm working this out for you, but another 570 runs without the loss of his wicket. Hmmmm; Could it be in front of his home crowd at the SCG!?
KO'K said it best; "He's a burst player... Everything he does (wickets & runs) are in short bursts. Everything else seems pretty ordinary, but those bursts can change & win matches.
The new ball is due after about 8 overs tomorrow morning... I can see Broad & Anderson lining up to take it and Root telling them to "get stuffed. Me, Dawid & Moeen are bowling better than you lot".
I asked because I'm not yet convinced that Smith doesn't go all T20 once they get a lead... Then declares with 30-45 minutes left today with say an 80 run lead!
With the forecast what it is for days 4 & 5, do the Aussies just keep batting & batting here to get a 150-200 lead and then try to bowl England out for below whatever the lead is?
True, but he looked all at sea in the 1st innings. Hazelwood actually looked better than both spinners. Maybe being a left-hander on this pitch accounts for most of that.
I said it on Sunday & I'll say it again:
For the 2nd time in 3 days, the Aussies don't waste enough time with 3 minutes to go before a break... AND a wicket falls the next over!
Feign a cramp, fall over, pull out from a delivery, do whatever. What's the ump gonna do? Warn you. Hell, the...
If this was a boxing/UFC match & judges were involved, Aussies would currently be winning 10-8. Would hate to think that the toss of a coin is going to decide this series.
