i'm generally ok with the game. they were better. we've got glaring issues in our list. our ruckman is passive, starcevich is only just an afl player.
our back talls should be payne, gardiner, lester. our forward talls should be andrews, hippy, joe(thought he played one of his best games today).
Bloke could be a star if he guarded the mark, locked down hard on his opponent when they have the ball, contested harder in the ruck, actually tackled, stand under the ball and take a strong mark....y'know, do the attitudinal things that stars do.
Having said that, I think his last 4 or 5 weeks...
i've always said he's brilliant and does brilliant things.
But his worst is terrible. His rucking is futile. His non competing in the ruck led directly to one of Ports early goals. His non marking up of his opponent at a kick in led to another Port goal.
The thing is he's got Buddy level...
great show by everyone last night. starcevich looked more like his old self, joe was more brilliant than terrible, Ah Chee played another great game, Glugga...brilliant.
Joe needs to compete in the ruck.
Payne is still too passive.
Big O still playing from behind at throw ins.
what the hell has happened to Starcevich? He looks constantly scared....exausted. His decision making is awful and his execution is dodgy. Might be time for Darcy Gardiner to come back.
Also can someone please have a word in Joes ear about actually competing. If he's going to do some rucking he...
as i see it we've got 2 major problems.
we've got a passive ruck. How many times will Oscar trail in behind his opponent......even players like Walker and Hawkins, when you know exactly what forwards are trying to do.
And we're basically playing 6 half forwards. Our talls are really running...
Lets face it, we're making up the numbers. Yep, seems ridiculous to say that but this is the weakest top 8 in living memory. Collingwood are clearly number 1, Melbourne are a good number 4 and we're just in the 8. Sad!
Death by poison or death by firing squad........it's still death.
If I have to choose I think I'd go into a prelim with Gunston.......at least he's done it before and maybe he can coax that decrepit old carcass to think that he's 28 again..........Joe will just go missing because it's a bit hard.
out: Oscar, Gunston(not to return), Rayner(to challenge him), Joe(because he's a two bob lair and will go missing in finals)
On the edge: Starcevich(slow, poor decision maker. His best is good enough but he's been sub par for weeks.
Zorks(has he done his dash?)...
Ok.....Again no drive out of the center. Usually the brilliance of our mids can cope with working to a losing ruck. Today we had a losing ruck(as usual) but we were confronted by a very grunty opposition midfield.......therefore we lose drive out of the center and around the ground.
