    Review Round 4, 2024: Box Hill Hawks v North Melbourne, 20 April 2024, 2.05pm @ BHCO

Butler is a bit of an enigma to me. I just get the feeling he has more to offer than he has shown to date. Has he been typecast as a small forward because of his brother? Can he play a midfield role? I don’t know but he puzzles me. Maybe he needs to move clubs as he has a few small forwards...

Dear just keeps on improving. Great contested mark. He will make AFL. Max Hall BOG. Great game.

Review Round 2, 2024: Geelong Cats vs Box Hill Hawks, 30 March 2024, 11.05am @ GMHBA Stadium

Good to see Maginness silence a few of the criticisms today. He really produced an all round game which he can build on in the AFL rather than being a one trick run with player. Needs to improve his skills a bit but made some good decisions today.

Review Round 2, 2024: Geelong Cats vs Box Hill Hawks, 30 March 2024, 11.05am @ GMHBA Stadium

After a pretty poor first half and ten minutes into the third quarter Box Hill took control of the game and showed their true potential. It will lift their belief to know they can run out a game and win convincingly when things seems to be going against them. Fantastic last quarter running on...

Review Round 2, 2024: Geelong Cats vs Box Hill Hawks, 30 March 2024, 11.05am @ GMHBA Stadium

It Is pointless criticising umpires. Of course they will make mistakes. The reality is we have played poorly and Geelong deserve their lead. Let’s hope Box Hill can lift in the second half. They are better than what they have shown in the first half.

Review Round 1, 2024: Casey Demons Vs Box Hill Hawks, 24 March 2024, 2.00pm @ Casey Fields

I would like to give a shout out to James Parsons who kicked a magnificent goal off one step in his first game back from ACL surgery. Unfortunately shortly after he suffered a reported Achilles injury and will be out again for an indefinite period. Best wishes in his recovery. Football can be a...

Review Round 1, 2024: Casey Demons Vs Box Hill Hawks, 24 March 2024, 2.00pm @ Casey Fields

Agree with your comments re ruck contests. Meek tends to dominate at VFL level but struggles against top flight rucks in the AFL. Ramsden marked strongly but unfortunately kicked inaccurately for goal. I assume Fullerton was rucking for Casey and he is listed with Melbourne but if so did not...

I am biased, but I love HH. So clean by hand unlike many in the seniors yesterday.

Casey fought back into the game that quarter. 45/23 to Box Hill at half time. Big third quarter coming up.

Well at least this game will show us if anyone is knocking the door down to get promoted to the senior team.

Review 2023 1st Prelim Final, Gold Coast Suns v Box Hill Hawks, 16 September 2023, 3:00pm @ Heritage Bank Stadium

A pretty gutsy effort by the guys fighting it out to the end against a better balanced team who dominated the midfield. They never gave up.

Good experience for Tucker to play on Goldy. Goldstein has been a top AFL for years. Tucker now understands the standard he will need to reach.

    Review Round 16, 2023: GWS Giants v Box Hill Hawks, 8 July 2023, 12.55pm @ Giants Stadium

We almost stopped in the last quarter. Unfortunately our forward entry philosophy seems to be bang it in the air and hope for the best or alternatively pick out Aleer or another of their talls. Let’s hope the seniors have learned to lower the eyes and kick to advantage at least some of the time...

Quite a tall forward line as selected but of course they may not line up that way. I guess an interchange bench of five allows greater flexibility to rest the ruckmen. I look forward to seeing how they line up if it is wet up there.

Like HH I have really enjoyed Littlejohn’s player reviews which provide a realistic insight into their performance from the coach’s perspective. What is written can often be in stark contrast to what fans may think or expect from each individual.

2001 and 2004 set the standard. If any can reach the standard of Hodge, Mitchell, Franklin, Roughead and Lewis we will be more than pleased.

Review Round 6: Sunday 30/4 vs Casey @ Wonthaggi

The winning team had a functioning forward line we had a dysfunctional one. Meek, C Mac and the Frenchman will come into consideration by the selectors next week.

Review Round 5: Sat 22 April at 13:05 - Box Hill Hawks vs Coburg Lions

Well the floodgates opened for Box Hill in the final quarter and Coburg were completely outclassed having been quite competitive up till then. Weddle will be playing AFL sooner than later, Ramsden has a future but don’t want to rush him, Stephens showed a bit and Kosi kicked straight. What is...

    Review Round 3, 2023: Geelong Cats v Box Hill Hawks, 10 April 2023, 11.45am @ MCG

Good to hear Box Hill had a big win and a number of the Hawthorn listed Youngsters showed a bit. As is always the case this performance should be viewed in the context of the quality ( or otherwise) of the opposition. Regardless of this obvious qualification good form in the VFL should always be...
