    2024 VFL Season

Maybe ingrained from a historical perspective but I've always seen Port at Port as difficult. Plus playing two lowly AFL teams at home the last 2 weeks have needed late goals to win. Willy not at their best lately.

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

Always was all icing and no cake. Won WRFL flags with a lot of money, but embarrassing themselves now. Never, ever built a strong club with strong foundations. Crashed back to earth.

Autopsy GWS v Bulldogs - AFL Rd 10, 2024 -SATURDAY MAY 18TH 4:35PM (ENGIE Stadium)

Hard watch tonight, dominated possession and territory, but game not decided until only 8 minutes left. Plus side is we can be very good, but can be inconsistent from game to game, quarter to quarter, even goal to goal. Loving Darcy's development, Freijah promising so some kids coming through...

    2024 VFL Season

Could only watch 1st half at Willy who dominated the first quarter with excellent skills and ball movement. Blues more competitive in the 2nd, goals traded but Willy 4 goals up at HT when I left. Bit shocked to see final score, heard big Tom Downie kicked a goal after the siren to win it...

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

I noted 2 weeks ago they overused the ball and inevitably, the skill error came. They tried switching the ball from flank to flank across half back, over complicating things. Just got the feeling Varcoe thinks he's coaching a highly skilled AFL team.

    Autopsy Suns v Cats - AFL Rd 10, 2024 - Thursday May 16th 7:00pm - (TIO Stadium)

As the Dogs found out over many years of playing in Darwin, it's not just the Darwin game, but also how you recover for the next week. We'd consistently lose the week after winning up there. Suns have worked it out, play 2 weeks in a row and stay up there, big advantage in week 2.

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

How are people viewing Werribee Districts this year? Still undefeated and flag favourites after 5 games, but it's not as clear cut as that. Have twice trailed twice at 3qt - PCC and Parkside, before winning narrowly. In addition, they trailed at home v Altona at HT yesterday, although winning...

    WRFL Div 2 Discussion 2024

Spent the day yesterday at North Sunshine v Laverton, there is some good people at North, doing their best. Told their numbers this year are much better, even at training. They always fill 2 sides, incredibly. Their obvious issue is quality, they're obviously battling. Heard how a few people...

    WRFL Div 2 Discussion 2024

Heard a heck of a lot of clubs unhappy with the current D2. Who would be happy? Even Sunshine and Albion would want the finals next week.

Autopsy AFL 2024 Round 9 - Tigers v Dogs Sat May 11th 7:30pm AEST (MCG)

Friend went to AAMI for the first time on Anzac day to see the Storm, paid $40 for a seat in the corner, with poor view of the opposite corner, and vowed never again. And people complain about the cost of AFL. I paid $65 for an old wooden seat at at a 2nd tier EFL game back in 2009. AFL is the...

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

Thinking Altona will go 1-3 after getting beaten at Werribee Districts today by 35. Altona will struggle to make the 5, lots of skill errors last week, overused the ball and very indirect. YSE by 18 over Parkside PCC by 25 over Hoppers PC by 7 over Spotty

    VFA Revival?

No disrespect to the Ammos - very good standard at the top, good competition, but for Willy VFL it would be a huge cultural shock to go from a semi professional environment with half a dozen full time employees, regularly playing against fully professional, full time footballers to move to an...

So 157 with NS, probably only a handful of wins in those 157, great persistence.

Didn't get to Casey, but good win out there by Willy. 15 down early last qtr then kicked the last 8 goals.

Good on him, that's a huge commitment at a club who've had little success for a long, long time. Well done Cam.

    Premier Lg EPL Matchday 34, 35 & 36 - On Optus Sport

Just fantastic, comprehensive, fluent, won 50-50 balls, could have scored 6 or 7. Best Palace side Ive seen n the PL era.

    Premier Lg EPL Matchday 34, 35 & 36 - On Optus Sport

1st time Palace have been close to full strength all season, albeit Guehi starting as a sub. Only POTY Doucoure remains out, has been since October. Sam Johnstone probably number 1 keeper but Henderson doing a good job.Olise missed the season's start. Shame the season is ending and I probably...

£60m supposedly, which is a lot more than the supposed £35m of his first contract.

Beautiful player is Olise, just added £5m to his fee. If you want him United, you might have to cough up much much much more than the £8m he cost us.

Coach Do you still have any faith in Bevo? [POLL]

We're now paying the price for paying top dollar (picks wise) for JUH, Darcy, Lobb and Croft with almost no decent 2nd and 3rd rounders in over the past 3 years. Not saying those drafted won't be good players but right now there's a hole between our top end talent and our bottom 10. The thing...

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

Watched 2nd half PCC v PC, very entertaining. PCC''s a good, skilful and tough side, close until last 10 minutes, until they kicked away. Doubt PC can repeat their GF of last season, too many skill errors. 1st time they've beaten PC and they were very happy at siren time. Big crowd, good...

    2024 VFL Season

Even allowing for the loss of players aspiring to the AFL, and I'm a strong supporter of the WFNL, those sides would destroy WFNL teams for the immediate term at least. Willy have $3m in the bank, Werribee probably more (not sure of Port). No current WFNL club could compete with them on or off...

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

First time Parkside has played Werribee Districts, but think WD will win by 45. Altona over CS by 12 PCC to have their first win over PC by 5 YSE over Hoppers by 10.

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

You can see in an earlier post of mine that I'm enjoying recent seasons of D1 WFNL due to its competiveness (4 games on weekend, total 47 points difference). That was also typical of many games last season. Much rather watch close, competitive footy than a higher standard with constant blow...

    WRFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

Yep, it's very competitive and interesting only a cumulative 47 point margin over the 4 D1 games. A competitive league is more important IMO than arguing over the standard of football.

    Premier Lg EPL Matchday 34, 35 & 36 - On Optus Sport

3 games in 6 days caught up with Palace but away point is not the worst result. Worth waiting up for Schlupp's cracker at the end. Did enough to win, hats off to Fulham's keeper Leno for stopping our momentum with a calculated "injury" causing a stop to the game. Fulham had a team chat...
