There are very few sports in the world where if you make a successful pass (in this case a 15m kick) you are rewarded by the defender having to stop and give you time and space to make the next pass. Netball is the other one I can think of.
Given this massive advantage, when running the clock...
Any time in Freo history that we have been legit good (2006, 2012-14) we have employed a tagger to great effect. Matt/Josh Carr, Crowley. It is part of FFC DNA.
Now, apparently Young was playing as a tagger of some sort on Bont yesterday.
1. It failed on a spectacular scale if true,
2...
1. Pay a lot of money to Dunstall, Suma anyone who knows how to kick set shots at an all time elite level, to run the one on one set shot goal kicking technique and routine coaching.
2. First day of the month every mid and forward takes 250 shots at goal from the standard 25 positions inside...
We’ll it’s June and we can barely field a team. That must mean it is tank time! How high a pic can we get this year if we don’t win another game.

I don’t know if it was particularly bad yesterday but on a number of occasions during yesterday’s game i thought the tv coverage was crap in the following ways.
1. A player is taking a set shot at goal, and you have no context of where they are on the ground, or if the kick is straight, because...
We don't pick enough talls, particularly forward, every week.
To compare our current big forwards and rucks to WCE:
Natainui, Lycett, Kennedy, Darling, Waterman.
vs
Sandilands, blank, Cox, McCarthy, blank
Its ridiculous
Alex Pearce since coming back from injury this year is now comfortably our best key position player. He’s a significantly better player than he was pre injury IMO.
Do we need our best KPP at CHF?
Wasn’t great forward before the injury, but perhaps at least try it a few games to see how...
Seems to me outside speed and skill in our midfield is pretty poor. Our inside ball winning is elite, but then we have Hill of real quality on the outside, but not much else.
Mzungu was ok on the weekend, and should stay in. D Pearce was shitful yet again. And after them, there is really not...
Lyon has mentioned the possibility of Walters ending up a midfielder before, and it looked to me that he was playing midfield towards the end of yesterday's game, with Crozier forward (and Pearce subbed out). I wonder if this could be a permanent move, with Duffy or Pearce taking Crozier's spot...
Interesting to see Sj try to get a shoulder shove in mid handshake, and Crowls not having any of it. Entertaining stuff! SJ really did get his arse handed to him today
We saw it again today in the Adelaide Freo game, when the umpires go upstairs to check a poster, they insist on using frame by frame super slomo replays. The only way a replay can show a poster is by seeing the deflection, which is almost impossible to see on frame by frame. Just replay it in...
So with Kep and Griffin out for the season, the obvious best 22 has Sandilands and Clarke as the ruck combo. Obviously this means Clarke is no longer going to be tried as a full time forward (a good thing IMO). Pav will come back, but there is still a spot for a 2nd Key Forward.
I would think...
This matchup might happen tomorrow, should be interesting given both players generate a fair bit of opinion on this board. I think its a pretty good matchup for Silvagni personally. It will be good to see where he is at.
Said Mitch Clark is coming to Freo, (I think that's what he said) one way or the other.
also says he would advise Griffen to leave Freo, and that Richmond should be showing interest. But at this stage nothing certain re Griff
Sorry for the vagueness re his Clark comments, just caught the end...
Ross seems to rate, and talk about, a few players a little bit too much.
I reckon the following might be being talked up prior to shopping them around:
Griffen
Crowley
Roberton
And to a lesser extent Walters
I know we're all having a laugh at how the the commentary team was pointing out Michael Johnson's beer gut today, but seriously.. In a year like we have had, with so many youngsters playing, with so many injuries, where we need our senior players to stand up, the shape is he in is an indictment...
To this date in his career he has looked a quality ruckman, and a mediocre forward. I would think if we picked him up it would be to play forward. So does he have the tools to be a star forward? Is his average return as a forward up until now simply because he is still learning the role?, or...

I was wondering what had become of Aaron Black. Most of us were disapppointed at the time that we chose Fyfe over him. Now he's had 2 miserable years in Melbourne ruined by groin pain. Bring him home!
In our current forward line, consisting of Bradley and Pavlich (I know) as 2 talls, who fits the structure better as the final tall, Anthony or Johnson?
ie who fits in at X below?
Ballas Mr X Bradley
Mayne Pavlich Deboer/Mellington/Fyfe
For mine...
Assuming for the sake of this that the club know for a fact that Palmer is gone to GWS at the end of this year, what would be the ideal way to manage it selection wise?
One school of thought is obviously to NOT PICK HIM, as developing him has no obvious long term benefit to the club.
The...
Of our 2nd year players who suffered the dreaded 2nd year blues?, and who smashed it?
Off the top of my head:
Hill: Killed it, became, along with Mundy, our most damaging, and most tagged midfielder. 9/10
Suban: Major blues. Injuries probably contributed early, but overall very...
Following on from the truly insightful Priddis, Wilkes and Notte suggestions, I think we should throw everything at getting Patrick Patty McGinnity to our club asap. No real redeeming qualities to mention as a player. Discuss.
