Couldn't find a thread dedicated to this but given our 2025 injury list I thought it worthwhile to keep tabs on our players who are currently out injured and/or 'managed' heading into 2026. I think right now the following players are not 100% and/or injured;-
Nick Bryan
Nic Martin
Thomas...
No injuries against Port a positive and we will likely have a few more players available including;-
Tsatas, Parish, Lav, Perkins, Setters, Davey
For me at this early stage I’d go with these changes
OUT: McKay (mng) Menzie (omit) Edwards (omit)
IN: Lav Parish Perkins
Team:
Lav Reid McGrath...
Only just over a week until our 1st 'official' practice match after an impressive hitout against the Dogs. Hopefully we see a few senior players come in to give us some chance against Geelong in Geelong as its been slim pickings for us for a long time down there..
Probably available: Durham...
Hopefully Sydney & Adelaide have done the right thing by us and we remain in the 8...for now...!!!
Really need more effort than the last few weeks and I think its time to blood a couple of youngsters and freshen up the team
OUT: Ridley, Perkins, Menzie
IN: Hayes, Hobbs, Roberts
Team;-
Hayes...
After an uninspiring hitout against the Saints I'd like to think we will see a better tune up for our round 1 game against the Hawks.
Cats have been our boggie side for some time - especially down there...
At least we will get some senior players back - hopefully we see a line up something...
Would be nice to kick off next year with a win - its a long way off but I'm thinking linups might be something like;-
FB: Hardwick Blanck Impey
Stringer Langford Hobbs
HB: Weddle Sicily Scrimshaw
Gresham 2MP Menzie
C: Ward Newcombe Amon
Durham Shiel...
I cant believe I am writing this thread - but yes - after last nights grinding win we currently are sitting in 7th spot and SHOULD manage to play finals this year....!!!
We are pretty much at the half way point of the season 11 games down and 12 to come.
We currently have 6 wins and 5 losses...
Good to see Bryan back, but still no Baldwin...
A decent line-up regardless to face Casey;-
B: R. Montgomerie (38), W. Hoare (51), J. Fitzgerald (77)
HB: A. Lord (28), L. Hayes (18), Massimo (42)
C: T. Phillips (55), B. Hobbs (8), S. Conforti (53)
HF: Tippa (43), VOSS (39), B. Cootee (57)
F...
Heppell and Jones should have been dropped last week - covering the ground is one thing - executing on skill entirely another and both (especially Heppell) made several costly mistakes against the Saints at critical times..Davey injured?
OUT: Jones, Heppell, Davey, Massimo
IN: Voss, Zerk...
If we can play like we did against the Hawks we are in with a red hot chance of going 2 - 0. Not sure we will make any changes given we won by 10 goals - if we do though someone might make way for one or more of Snelling, Hobbs or Guelfi...I'd go in unchanged though and Draper forward makes us...
Only 2 weeks now until the real stuff starts and by my count we have 11 players who are currently injured to varying degrees: Langford, Stringer, Guelfi, Heppell, Hobbs, Cox, Caldwell, Tsatas, Reid, Stewart & JDavey - maybe I've missed someone not sure...
On a positive note we have a new coach...
Footy is back...!!! Sure its just a match simulation/practice match but none the less its televised and I'm sure plenty of us here will be tuning in.
It will be good to see some of our new recruits match up against the Gold Coast in their home state - Davey & Weideman in particular intrigue...
Footy back in about a month - Moorabbin oval as well I love the old grounds - would like to see some of our new recruits played - and it’s only a practice match but a 1 point win against the Saints would suffice!

I know its a long way away but thought I'd jump on this to see what our best 22 might look like round 1 next year - obviously from the list of players we have pre trade/draft etc;-
Ridley Zerk Kelly
Redman Lav McGrath
Langford Shiel Durham
Martin Stringer Perkins
Jones 2MP Wanga
Draper Parish...
OUT: Perkins, Snelling, Jones
IN: Shiel..??, D'Ambrosio, Phillips
Hope one of or preferrably both Shiel and/or Caldwell are available - both were missed against the Giants
Jones makes way for Phillips
D'Ambrosio to play forward - Snelling to medi SUB
Team;-
Ridley Zerk Kelly
Redman Lav Hind...
We are going to have to play a fair bit better then we did against the Saints in the pre-season game to be any chance of knocking off the Cats.
But we are well placed with injuries, Merrett who was rested for half the Saints game will play a full game round 1, and we will get a few personal back...
Really looking forward to this game - it will be a good test for Essendon & Collingwood - both teams down on confidence & form.
Losing Ridley - our best defender - is huge, but this is somewhat counterbalanced in our favor with the Pies losing 3 of their better players in De Goey, Mihocek &...
Still much to transpire before the start of next season - trades, drafts, retirements & delisting's.
But I just wanted to look at what our starting 22 for round 1 next season might look like. I've left out players that have a clear question mark over them in terms of if they stay or leave the...
Now that the AFL season is suspended until at least June there is a bit of a silver lining in that a few of our senior players should be over injuries & available. This includes our captain Dyson Heppell, plus lots of our talls - Hooker, Ambrose, McKernan, Draper - even possibly Stewart &...
Trying to work out what our round 1 VFL team might look like. I've come up with;-
McQuillan Guccionne Cahill
Guelfi McBride Mutch
Ham Clarke Hird
Langford Stewart Mosquito
Snelling Jones Begley
Bryan Hibberd A.Heppell
Bench from: Simpson Sheahan Derksen L.McKenna Barton
Any VFL watchers see...
Its only 2 months away thank god - the cricket is putting me to sleep...!! We play WCoast first up over in Perth which is always tough, followed by Geelong a couple of weeks later in Colac. Not the easiest pre-season games but it will be good to test ourselves against some of the stronger...
Im going to throw it out there so we can move on from our pretty weak loss to the eagles last night. Obviously early and trades/list movement to happen over coming months, but at this stage I'd have;-
Hooker Hurley Saad
Redman Francis Heppell
Merrett Stringer McGrath
Laverde Daniher McKenna...
I've long held the belief that we match up OK on Collingwood, and we only narrowly went down to them (thanks mainly to the umpires) on Anzac day earlier in the year.
The team looked really good against the Dockers - and it would be great to get the win here and have some momentum going into...

Well it will be interesting to see how these 2 former powerhouse clubs fair against each other. Both clubs are shadows of their former self's, and neither team has won a final for god knows how long.
Its set up to be a real slog fest - and what these teams lack in ability they should make up...
This should be an intriguing battle. Both teams have had their share of injuries, but Richmond seem to have been able to cover these better than the Bombers so far this season. Bellchambers should be able to dominate Ivan Soldo in the ruck and if he can give Shiel, ZMerrett and Heppell first use...
A rested Buddy back for the Swans is dangerous - this is a season defining game...
We were poor against the Cats - forwards like daniher & Tippa didn't do enough - maybe daniher has to spend more time in the ruck...
Hope we can bring our A game for this..... I'd have a couple of changes and...
