Autopsy Round 13, 2023 : Hawthorn mauls Brisbane

Seamus, C McD, Brockman, Nash, Worpel, even Weddle. At start of season I wasn’t convinced these blokes were first 22. They now most definitely are. And that is bloody fantastic for our club. Being so influential and positive in how you go about it makes it near impossible to take you out of the...

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn: Pick 23, Sam Butler

Fantastic game for the role he plays, particularly to back himself and kick that beauty! Shows an instinct that we know is there and will bloom in time. Playing devils advocate however, I am frustrated at times by his taking things for granted. Trying to pick it up one handed, anticipating a...

Weddle to Smith? An out and out runfest?!

Unofficial Preview Best 22! Who’s in the team Round 1, 2023?

Jeka is such a natural forward, really hope he can put it together this year. Seemed to stagnate last year, but he is still only 21yo. Would hate for him to be thrown to the backline and waste the fwd talent as I see he and Lewis with huge potential as a marking mobile couple. I get the upside...

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Lloyd Meek

I’m wary that it is a highlights package but upside a lot better than I expected given his draft number and lack of game time. And a different beast to Ned which I see as a real positive given the diversity of rucks in the league these days. Along with Max in the 23-24yo bracket, plus Ramsden...

Game Day Round 15, 2022: Bulldogs v Hawks, 7pm Friday 24th June, Marvel Stadium

Bloody great to watch so far. Everyone having a crack, lot of grit, lot of “polish” Clarko!

Autopsy Round 10, 2022: Hawks hunt down the Lions

The fact we knocked off a solid Lions outfit (contenders or otherwise) without Scrimmers, Big Boy, Ned, Gunston, and even Ward and McDonald (who would be at least best 25 based on form) is a really nice feeling. Granted they were missing Daniher, McStay, Adams. Feel great about the challenge for...

Autopsy Round 10, 2022: Hawks hunt down the Lions

Cracking team effort! Can’t think of a single passenger in that one, apart from Hartigan obvs. The older blokes stood up, the young brigade ate up their opportunities and looking more and more like they belong! Bloody exciting!

Autopsy Round 9, 2022: Hawks chewed on by Tigers

Can’t deny the disappointment. We give ourselves chances and feel we shoot ourselves in the foot. But also can’t deny we have a red hot crack. And Richmond are still decent, with amazing players in their side - Dusty, Shai, Lynch - on paper, you’d expect them to win. The previous two weeks the...

Autopsy Round 6, 2022: Hawks fall over against Swans

Agree mate. Thought we were still in the arm wrestle and keeping them at a 14-20pt length, but when a fresh JK came on for a lumbering backman to effectively outnumber our midfield it really swung it in their favour. It gave them flexibility and rotations with their mids and they took advantage.

Shambles. Surely Rutten can’t last. Every time I hear him speak, I can’t help but feel he’s got to be the most uninspiring and cliche-ridden coach there is. Seems to have a smugness about him, almost arrogance - does he care enough?? I’m sure it’s not the case but perception is big in this game...

Autopsy Round 5, 2022: Hawks skin the Cats

Scrimmas game was great. But… his last quarter - absolutely immense. A lot of little touches that won’t go on the stats sheet - palming the ball away from the cats advantage, shepherds, getting in their way to break a handball chain, spoils. Just mahussive in the last when the game was there to...

    Preview Round 4, 2022: Hawks v Saints , MCG 3:20pm Sunday 10th April

Gee, a few have Finn out. We’re 2-1, playing pretty well for a young team! Only changes to make are necessary ones through injury IMO. He has the attributes of at least being sound role player, has been our best two-way runner to date and will only get better with more exposure. Can see him...

News Cyril and Shannyn Rioli speak to Caro - link to club statement in page 8

This And more to the point, the focus has been on one comment/incident. However Kennetts history of never willing to accept or admit when he’s wrong only makes his “apology” less sincere. Is he sorry, or sorry he was called out? Entitled, self-serving, power-tripper.

Game Day Round 3 2022, Carlton vs Hawthorn, 1.10pm Sunday 3rd April, MCG

Love how Frosty goes about it. Plays with unmatched desperation. Apart from Will Smiths agent over the past week.

Game Day Round 3 2022, Carlton vs Hawthorn, 1.10pm Sunday 3rd April, MCG

Better match ups in defence, and less ball watching in the midfield, at least stopped the waltz of the first qtr. Loved the pressure acts and tackling in the 2nd particularly by the young blokes. Get the efficiency up and no reason we can’t claw back. Need more from a few of the experienced tier...

Game Day Round 3 2022, Carlton vs Hawthorn, 1.10pm Sunday 3rd April, MCG

Big test for midfielders today against form midfield of the comp. Blues have a great spread of inside beasts and outside runners, will ask a lot of us but the way our young blokes have shown up so far they’ll relish the challenge. I’ll also be interested to see if we can re-create the rebound...

Game Day Round 22, 2021: Hawks v Dogs, UTAS 1:45pm

It’s been genuinely awesome to see the (mainly young) fellas learn to play the game with each other. The polish and flow that was so severely lacking has arrived - it’s just taken 12-13 rounds. Kudos Clarko - now #dontfarkitupsam!

    Game Day Round 19, 2021: Adelaide v Hawthorn, 7.40pm @ Marvel Stadium

Genuinely think they are decent exponents of it, no? Just gotta be aware of the second tackler, but generally comes off more often than not?

    Game Day Round 19, 2021: Adelaide v Hawthorn, 7.40pm @ Marvel Stadium

Theyre isolating him 1-1. His strength is reading it further up the ground and coming off his man to impact the contest/take a grab. They’re dragging him deeper and one out to expose him. Agree - learning curve.

    Game Day Round 19, 2021: Adelaide v Hawthorn, 7.40pm @ Marvel Stadium

I feel for Cousins. He’s genuinely quite clean around the stoppages, getting through traffic, strong over the ball but... then his disposal... tidy that up mate and you’re fine. But it’s been a while. I just.... 🤷‍♂️

Autopsy Round 18, 2021: Hawks draw with Demons

Want to give a shout to Cousins, although am a bit confused about him. He does a lot right in clearances, tackling, pressure, getting to good positions etc- stuff we have been lacking TBH! But his disposal and clangers are costly. Generally thought he played ok, some important moments and...
