Yep, excited for him to get a crack at it at some stage. Would imagine he'd be in excellent nick to go after an extended preseason due to the suspension.
Lacks the fitness to play with any sustained intensity at AFL level. Body's not developed. Add in fatigue and he'll be ragdolled.
Fantasia isn't doing much, but he doesn't do much wrong. Covers the ground well, applies pressure and makes things happen when he gets the ball. Needs to get (much)...
Newman brilliant today with the outs in the backline. Safe as houses when he has the ball in his hands, love him defensive side of the contest.
Cowan impressive, we've got a player here. Kemp growing by the week, could be anything.
My man Cotters, what a player he's becoming. Always adding to...
Cottrell brilliant. Covering ground as he always does, looking very dangerous with ball in hand and finding space.
Keeps adding to his game, one of my favourites.
Agree in general but unfair criticism of Hoyne. He's very consistent with his opinions and has always been vocal about the importance of the turnover game.
Absolutely. Been a frustration of mine for a few years. The threshold for a suspension has reduced dramatically to the point where players are being penalised for split second decisions in genuine football actions.
Whether there's a suspension cap (3+ games deems you ineligible), an offence...
Its not a question of maximising upside, but minimising downside. At least 2 goals kicked as a result of broken tackles (Fogarty early, Soligo in the build up to the Kemp/Williams debacle).
I watched the match again, and to his credit Hollands was tireless on the defensive wing. That chase down...
I think we forget how little footy Kemp has played. Only 27 games. Progressing very well and reckon by the end of the season the brain fades will be long behind him.
I've been a critic of Young's but looking composed with the footy. Not sure it'll translate to AFL level but doing himself no harm.
Cowan been great, might be between him and Cincotta.
Few players are as bad in that regard as Ollie is. A far cry from his late 2023 form. My read is he probably hasn't missed a session all preseason and he's playing tired. Working hard to get to the contest but when he gets there he's exhausted and struggling to impact.
It was similar mid 2023...
Any broken tackle is bad enough at AFL level. Broken tackles in the open kill you.
Hollands had 4 or 5 efforts where he was brushed off with contempt, at least 3 of which directly lead to goals. His inability to half contests squandered a couple of other opportunities.
Hollands is not winning...
What does Ollie offer at the moment that Binns can't? His inability to impact a contest is a liability.
Not sure if he's overworked at present, he looks similar to just before his injury last year. Might have gone to hard over the preseason and is overloaded. With his build, if he's playing...
I'll be gobsmacked if he plays next week.
He was tracking similarly last year before his injury, and was probably a week or two away from being rested. Played very well upon return from injury but he's far off the pace atm.
I think that's the worst game he's ever played.
I've been banging on about him, but Ollie killed us in both contests. Missed the easiest of tackles before the Kemp dropped mark, then lead his man into the contest with Cottrell and failed to put any body on.
Walsh absolutely sensational. A class above and comfortably our best player. Stark contrast with anyone else in the side with his burst from clearance and ability to get from contest to contest.
Also our cleanest tackler on the day, put some of the others to shame.
Likewise, it was clearly instruction. He wants to play the intercept role and setup for the long ball, but the Crows went short every time. Agree that it was infuriating, should have adjusted in the first after Walker's 4 i50 marks.
Weitering was poor, as were the rest of our defence, but problem was tactical. We were set up for the long ball, but Crows refused to do it all game.
They took the short kick every time and constantly found players in space. We failed to adjust until late into the second half but damage was...
They did last year, they haven't this year. He has to be dropped on the back of that performance.
Need to be able to stick tackles. 4 of the worst broken tackles you'll ever see in a game of footy, including the one that ultimately cost us the game. Had the Crows player dead to rights with...
Hasn't been as bad as some making out. Need to tighten up defensively. Rankine, Rachele and Keays being afforded too much space. Weiters trying to play loose at every opportunity, but Walker too smart a footballer.
Our tackling been very poor, similar to last year vs the Crows. They're breaking...
Ollie a concern, involved in 3 of the Crows goals. Needs to be much better at sticking tackles, or at least jumping opponents of the ball.
Crows taking the short option down the line then into the corridor, and we're not doing much to stop it. Weiters adjusted late and playing much tighter on...
