I Can't believe people actually set this system up and thought it was a good idea. I think most people realised it was a bad system the night of the first draft it was used.
So Sydney who traded out 3 years of 1st round picks are upset and think they should be rewarded for being successful. By being able to trade a bunch of late rounders for first round draft talent.
How deluded can you be. The whole moving lateral on the mark had been happening as far back as 2008. It had pretty much become the standard in a year or 2.
It appears people only like it if it happens in the last minutes of a game and/or when it suits there own narrative.
The only real fuss in all of this should be about the lost 37 seconds.
What the **** would coaches know about football. The rating system setup by some geek who sits at a laptop is where it is at.
You can't with a straight face claim a AFL coach knows more than some geeky number cruncher knows on who are the best players.
I'll give you GWS but the Gold Coast numbers are all in the range when they have played big Vic clubs in the past and with less optimism around them.
All the numbers the 3 clubs excluding GWS are nothing out of the ordinary. If anything like anything with attendance numbers in Sydney's west...
But the numbers v Carlton the previous 2 times don't show that. Last year had only 1300 less and the year before had almost 4000 more. And both those games were mid year. Last years game only had 1300 less and both teams were struggling outside the top 8.
Your trying to convince people that more people would go to Sydney v Carlton at the SCG in the opening round of the season with only 4 other games being played. But less people would turn up if the opening round had 9 games being played over the weekend?
People whining about the season starting later do realise that up until 2017 the season nearly every year didn't start until the last weekend in March. It started in April in 2015 to accommodate the Cricket World Cup.
It started earlier in 2014 with a split round to start the season. Everyone...
I'd argue that when it gets to the stage that your running out on the footy field under the influence it is a mental health problem.
A lot of the hiding behind mental health is players who casually use illicit drugs when socialising and for enjoyment. And then when they get caught out it is...
