Among Aussie quicks only Lillee, McGrath, Lindwall, Cummins and now Hazlewood have over 200 wickets at under 25. Some seriously good company there. If old mate Shamar does as well it will certainly be entertaining I give you that.
Keep in mind too that up until about August 15th is peak holiday and travel time in Japan. 2 and a half weeks from Aug 20th or thereabouts would be sweaty but good imo as it's outside peak season. Some years the weather has even cooled down a little by then but don't bet on it.
How do you go with humidity? I find Tokyo impossible at that time of year because of the heat island effect. The further you can get away from built up areas the better but it's kind of difficult in Japan.
He was 18 when he scored those 2 tons PB. 18!
Best tons by an Indian batsmen in Australia.
1. Tendulkar 114 at the WACA, 1991/2
2. Tendulkar 116 at the MCG, 1999/00
3. Laxman 167 at the SCG, 1999/00
4. Kohli 123 at Perth Stadium, 2018/9
5. Sandeep Patil 174 at the Adelaide Oval, 1980/1
What a great bowler, every ball a masterclass in controlling the speed, trajectory, amount of spin, length and direction of the ball. Only took one 10 for in test cricket at the first test I ever attended in 1977 at the WACA. Still the only spinner to get a 10 for in a test at the WACA.
Go to the RAC and get an international driver's license. Speeds are slow because everywhere is congested so it's safe in that sense. I stick to 120 on the expressways. The thing I notice when I'm driving on the expressways is so the relentless flow of traffic, especially trucks. You've got to be...
When are you going? The JR rail passes are going up about 50% from October so keep that in my mind. The individual JR passes (JR West/ JR East etc) may be better value depending on your plans. Try hyperdia.com to get an idea of schedules and prices for the shinkansen. $1k is definitely over the...
"MCC Members Angry at the Laws of Cricket" is pretty close to the perfect definition of irony. Not Allanis Morrisette perfect though of course, but still decent enough.
The Poms, especially Gooch, were long time white helmet users, but I only remember Yallop, with his motorcycle style one, and maybe Terry Alderman wearing a white one in a test match for Australia.
India have put the hurt on us the last few years so good to get a little bit back. Still the Indians should be happy with what they've achieved, the loss of Pant and Bumrah really hurt them in this game, Pant in particular. Tossing up the permutations before the start of play today I kept...
A few of those blokes lookin' very dusty, Hookesy in particular. Marshy has obviously been carried off retired paralytic unless that's his sideburns peeking through bottom right. Great pic
Yeah there are no trains on Okinawa so it's hard to get around compared to the mainland. Renting a car is definitely the go. October is obviously typhoon season but if you can avoid that you should have decent weather.
As for the beaches, they're great by Japanese standards but not anything...
Lived there for a year 1997-1998, great place. Hope you like humidity and rain though. April/May is a good time to go. I'd try and get out of Naha and ideally visit some of the smaller islands.
Hayden was nearly 30 before he came good after so many false starts so Bancroft, Harris and Renshaw have some time yet. Surely at least one of them will kick on. My money is on Renshaw but I won't be betting the farm on it.
