I'm just throwing out names that had a decent season or in Thurlow's case was invited to the State Screening.
As a Morningside supporter I'm personally hoping for Tom Bell, Peter Mollison or Jackson Starcevich.

Any chance of any QLD'ers getting picked up by us this year? To add to the list:
Tom Bell
Peter Mollison
Sam Michael
Fraser Thurlow
Jackson Starcevich
Andrew Boston
Todd Grayson
Steve Wrigley
Matt Jones
Michael Hutchinson
Declan Bevan
Adam Oxley
Nathan Reid
So with Adelaide signing Ben Dowdell I'm looking for players who have been drafted from the 'left field'? Also how far did their career go?
I remember there was a ruckman who was drafted purely from a youtube video that he made and sent to recuiters. A former NBL player from memory.
I'm not 100% sure but I know when you nominate for the draft the draftee puts down their junior club. If there was a dispute I couldn't really see two clubs having a 'gentlemans agreement' though seeing how much clubs need to cling on to what cash they can get. I would say the AFL or AFLQ would...
I'm guessing you're referring to Jackson Allen? In his case, from what I understand Western Magpies will get the majority of the money and Morningside will receive a smaller cut.
I got to see a bit of Brewer in the NEAFL on the coast this year. Needs to lose weight and get much fitter- about 15-20kg over and can't chase. Great use of bodywork and his tapwork is exceptional though. I'd pass this year and see if he takes things seriously and gets his body in shape before...
A points system would be an excellent idea IMO. Too often do we see players come for the cash and then leave a year or two later. The competition doesn't have that prestige feel of playing for a club IMO, it seems that in the past few years we've seen players from across Australia come for one...
Would love to know where this AFL funding is going. NT will win just about every year if they truly want to. When you have an entire state to choose from plus have a bottomless wallet to buy interstate players that will fill roles for you- there's no stopping them.
Had to laugh at the Thunder...
Going to get some QLD names out there:
Dayne Zorko
Andrew Boston
Todd Grayson
Steve Wrigley
Matt Jones
Peter Yagmoor
Jackson Allen
Tom Bell
Jackson Starcevich
Peter Mollison
Michael Hutchinson
Declan Bevan
Sam Michael
Adam Oxley
Nathan Reid
Fraser Thurlow
Interesting week this. If Aspley can beat the Vultures, NT beat Suns and Morningside beat Southport it will make that 2nd and 3rd spot a very tight race. Make or break week yet again for many clubs.
This season will all come down to who is eligible to play for the Suns IMO. If the 7-game clause withstands then they might be in trouble- if not then they could field a team twice as good as any other.
Re: Post your stats questions here
Legend. Cheers mate for that- helps prove my point that we are unlikely to see a goal kicker to the likes of Dunstall, Lockett or Ablett again.
Re: Post your stats questions here
What is the highest and lowest total of goals the leading goal kicker (at this point) has kicked at the mid-point of the season?
Would be interesting to compare this to modern day footy.
No Southport and no Redlands wouldn't make sense considering the money they have. Can't see both Mt Gravatt and Morningside making the cut if this was true due to financial reasons.
Best chance would be the Suns having 5 QLD-zone picks at years end. Probably won't use all five but would put money on Yagmoor and Allen heading there.
Any other smokey's in the league? Oxley, Grayson, Bevan maybe?
Saw him play once or twice when he played up a grade at my old club. There's no doubt he can take a hanger on top of someone's shoulders. For AFL standard he has a bit to go but given his age like I said- get him in the weights room and on the track over the next few summers and he could be...
Crazy athleticism and marks well overhead. Fairly light but if he gets into the gym over the summer he could push for an AFL list in the 2013. If not he is eligible for the U18 side in 2013 and would get picked up for 2014
Agreed. Thunder have assure their finals berth while IMO Southport, Labrador and Lions won't make it. Labrador are in the same position as Redlands but with current form and injuries it would be a miracle push to get there. Redlands will have to have a great run to make up for their 2 game...
The same Knobel that has a go at the umpires every week and looks to scalp opposition players with late hits? Gee I wonder why he doesn't get the free kicks.
Too many Sunday games- means pretty much the whole weekend is dedicated to footy. Can't go out Saturday night because of the game nor Sunday night because of work on Mondays. Not such a bad thing but when the majority of your games are on a Sunday it does get a little frustrating in terms of off...
Long read but I guess the point is: give the younger players on the fringe of being drafted on an AFL rookie list more of a chance. If that's what you're going for, I agree. Really should have been an U21 game this year seeing as there are a number of players (not a huge number, but a decent...
Re: NEAFL - Northern Conference - Season 2011
Well I take this back. What a crazy season this has been. Any ladder prediction right now would be beyond trivial.
It's clear that australian games don't have close to the budget that a US game would so I would rather see the money used for the essentials that the game needs.
I don't really care too much about what the stadiums look like, how we need additional stadiums, more crowd noise, goal celebrations...
