Wasn't my take on the game.
Thought at half time Harris and Ah Chee were probably two of our best performers.
He didn't manage to get a spoil on that last kick forward to Harry, but I'm not going to crucify him for dropping a mark. He wasn't the only player to do that, seemed like it was extra...
Bit late to the party, but has anyone else noticed our 2023 and 2024 fixtures are almost identical?
Both years we play double up match ups against Collingwood, Melbourne, Adelaide, St Kilda & Gold Coast. The only difference is in 2024 we traded a double up against Freo for a double up against...
Would be as shocked (and annoyed) if we were dealt a 5 day break coming back from Perth.
Think we only got 6 days this year, but 7 should really be the minimum given it's the longest trip in footy (and that should apply for Freo/WC when they fly over too).
I like the fact you've managed to...
I came here to ask whether this was the first game this year we're starting as underdogs (according to the bookies).
Genuinely couldn't remember not being the favourite.
Went ahead and answered my own question.
We've started as underdogs three times this year:
Rd 2 vs Melbourne
Rd 4 vs...
Unfortunately I don't think this is an option for you.
If past years are anything to go by, I think Channel 7 has exclusive rights to the Grand Final, so you won't find it streaming on Kayo/Foxtel until after the match concludes.
You're not gonna win many popularity contests if you decide to pick a fight with the man of the hour.
Pretty sure Charlie had to go change into a new guernsey after that scuffle, so I think he was entitled to a few boos (as was Butters).
Didn't he lay into McGuinness a few weeks ago?
Have vague recollections of him throwing a barb at Zorko too last year.
Not sure it's that out of character for him.
It probably doesn't help that the guys he's trying to chase are often halfback flankers that are playing that position because they are exceptionally quick (e.g. Jayden Hunt, Salem, Rivers).
Sicily was probably a bit of an exception, Gunston was clearly struggling that day.
We won 7 on the trot between Rounds 4 and 10 this year. Only the Pies (8) and Port (13) have bettered that.
It's probably a little unrealistic to expect to dominate a game from start to finish (maybe WCE and North bring exceptions). The 6-6-6 ensures there's always an even contest for the ball...
Credit to GWS, they've beaten the Cats at GMHBA, Adelaide in Adelaide and the Dees in Alice Springs.
But losing to the Tigers and Blues at home (and the Eagles away) have hurt them. Flip those three results and they'd be level with us (and have Melbourne outside the 4!).
Sure, why not.
From the last time I did this, Adelaide has now dropped out of the top 8 and been replaced by Geelong.
I will consider playing down at Geelong the same as playing interstate, given it's a similar rarity that teams actually head down there.
After 18 rounds there have been 17...
I'm sure he'd love to have this play again, and I imagine he was pretty gassed by that stage of the game. One out against Gawn all night would have to be the toughest assignment as a ruck.
I want to give a bit of love to Big O. He doesn't accumulate fantasy points like a lot of the other big...
Great post.
I had a similar train of thought but across the league in 2023.
Fact of the matter is, Top 8 teams are tough to beat interstate.
14 times this year a Top 8 team from another state has travelled into enemy territory and attempted to knock off another Top 8 team (as per the current...
I was planning to make the trip over but succumbed to a positive COVID test yesterday.
Are there any Adelaide-based Brisbane Lions supporters that would be interested in a discounted ticket?
I have a Category 2 ticket in the 'Away Team Allocation' on Level 2. I paid $95; would be rapt to get...
So close! More like 8-9 depending on whether you include the sub.
Since last time they met -
BRISBANE
In: Zorko, Berry, Andrews, Coleman, Dunkley McKenna, Gunston, Ashcroft, Wilmot
Out: Lyons, Adams, Fort, Robinson, Tunstill, Cockatoo, Fullarton, Madden, Michael, Mathieson (Sub-Unused)...
For the record, we actually added Mitch Cox to our list in March. He played Rd 1 in the VFL so was effectively on our list all year.
He replaced CEY on the eve of the season.
Perhaps we bring in a premium ruck (there could be a few available - Grundy, Darcy, Goldstein) and revert to playing Big O as the forward/ruck.
Feel like Oscar played that role pretty well in the past.
5 - 1
I believe this is our best start to a season since 2003 (and we all remember how that ended ).
Certainly feels like we're working our way into the season, and we'll have a few good tests over the coming month. Bit odd we play another 3 away games from the next 4 matches, but if we...
Not sure what you saw, but the stat sheet reads 2 kicks, 2 tackles and 4 handballs for the match. And going off the graphic, well below his usual game rating.
Could have been playing a role, but certainly wouldn't have him near our Top 5 players on the ground.
If we lose we actually play the winner of 5th v 8th (Dogs v Dons/Dockers).
Loser of 2nd v 3rd plays winner of 6th v 7th.
Given 1st on the ladder would be expected to win Week 1, sort of makes sense the loser of 2nd/3rd gets the easier opponent (than 4th) in Week 2 for finishing higher.
But...
Answering a different question, but geez I'd hate to have to play an away final against Geelong. Particularly if it was Week 1, I get the feeling the AFL would schedule it down at Kardinia.
FWIW Jay Clark or Leigh Montagna reported on Triple M this morning that Hugh McCluggage is close to signing a long term deal with Brisbane in the vicinity of 700k.
Happy days!
