I guess it all depends on what you consider success and how it’s contextualised re: SMY
But I guess some people support the idea that everyone should be happy and get a ribbon for trying, and others believe you need to win to receive an accolade.
The key - and I emphasise the key of playing...
Always love winning a consolation prize.
Kicking 100 is a great achievement, but regardless on dollars spent or effort by all sides in the comp, the target is to win the flag in a team sport, isn't it? Individual achievements would always be trumped by the ultimate success. if a side thinks...
You would think so. The bottom 3 seem like they are a long way from the top of the pack, therefore you would think he will kick some big bags against each of them which will help his cause. But the reality is him kicking 100 is worth nothing if they can't win the flag, and he really struggled on...
Mail I heard was that he played. Would think he would get a lot more attention this year in terms of quality defenders.
But did seem to struggle statistically against sides who were ‘defence first’ according to the stats sheet. Unsighted first half in the gf when it counted etc. But have heard...
Won't be taking it as fact until it is confirmed. However, if it is true, additional points shouldn't be accepted based on the fact they have a number of 1 point players on their list. In my view, this is just a request to allow higher point players for a side that have already proven their...
Still early days. Good see to Wynnum on the front foot as they move up into div 1. Didn't see anyone too notable though in their signings. Hopefully they can recruit some big time types with the alleged loss of their two key posts up forward.
Huge losses for them if that is true. Can anyone confirm? Huge pieces that they could build their side around. If true, it will be a very tough existence in Div 1.
Heard on the grapevine that he won't head up north. But I guess that is the best part about speculation, one person will be right, one person will be wrong and everyone else can sink their boot into the latter ;)
Maybe not in terms of infrastructure (in terms of equality), but everything else is built from the committee that govern the club, tireless work of volunteers and a group of coaches that can help develop a group of players collectively for sustained success. Although this comment isn't directed...
I think Redcliffe have the right to think that they were competitive against the top sides this year because that it what the scoreboard says.
But I wonder if they were flattered by games they played at home opposed to being the away side? I do also do analyse the fact they got over the line by...
I tend to agree with you here Still. Only a subjective view of course on the footy I have seen across the journey in QLD anyway.
You would think if Burleigh went up, MB going up etc that they will be more than competitive next year in Div 1.
Just curious on what the view is between whether...
I think it's good to see they have been able to get some continuity with their colts, fielding teams etc. That will build over time and I tend to agree - I think they are on the right path.
Additionally, looking at some of their good performances this year, that home ground of theirs is a huge...
From an outsider looking in, has developed this group over a short while into a really competitive side. Pretty passionate, but don't mind a guy who seemingly wears his heart on his sleeve. Hard to argue with their improvement and he has lead that.
On the big stage, they were beaten by two...
I'm sure you're probably right in suggesting they'd prefer to be playing - no one wants to miss out on the big dance. It sounds like no love was lost in the prelim between Sandgate and Hinterland.
But it appeared they really got inside the heads of a couple of the previously mentioned...
Eh - they won by 4 goals yesterday. Not what I would call a smashing, and the year before I think they only got over the line against pine by a couple of kicks.
I think it was also posted on here that they lost Giles to the VFL and Castle went to QAFL last year - most sides would roll over if...
In the current climate I think things will always be difficult RE: Legitimate comp next year - who knows what tomorrow will bring.
I did go down and have a look at the GF yesterday and it was kind of an odd game. Mb jumped Hinterland and by the time Hinterland got back into the game, the horse...
From all reports Kilworth a pretty under rated footballer who has been probably just as pivotal to Hinterland's success, maybe even more than Knight. What's your thoughts?
You'd think they wouldn't match up on each other given their style of play and size differential etc. But I could be wrong.
I see Knight has kicked 7 in two games vs MB and Sandgate (best other two sides in the comp). But I guess it is to be expected to be down on usual goal productivity...
Agree on this. Kenmore appeared to be making a nice little run in the 1s late, pushed MB (in the 1s) so I wondered whether they might have been eyeing off a prelim? So i'm not sure if they would have loaded up twos etc.
Tend to agree with this comment.
MB v Wynnum - who knows what might happen.MB hammered them last time out, but things can change.
Hinterland v Sandgate - Sandgate certainly didn't disgrace themselves last time these two teams played.Knight been kicking bags week in and week out, be interesting...
