His presence as a physical midfielder, not just a wingman, has been really good. The return of Mills, Parker and Adams will be very interesting for how it affects ts the midfield time of McInerney and Jordon in particular imo. Their foot speed has added another edge in our midfield.

Young Player of the Year is your vote for the best player on the ground from this list below:
Matt Roberts
Braeden Campbell
Logan McDonald
Report suggesting we’re interested in Zurhaar, assuming that’s true, makes me think it’s a bit of contingency for if Hayward leaves. I’d suspect that if Hayward re-signs, we’ll no longer have any interest in Zurhaar.
I have a hunch we might see James Jordon follow Nick Daicos around on Friday night. No inside word obviously, but we’ve tended to play directly on him and Jordon seems versatile, disciplined and fit enough to get the job.
I think it's a genuine chance to keep going because of what it allows other players to do. Roberts stepping up to be defender/rebounder who the coaches clearly rate highly alongside Blakey and Florent. It also might allow Campbell and McInerney to push forward a little more (as well as continue...
McInerney was really physical against Melbourne and I loved seeing it. His aggression around the ground at the man and ball was excellent. I also love him pushing forward, I think he can be a real asset forward of the ball with his size, running, and skill. He's a serious asset.
This is our most important player and I tend to think it’s by a fair margin. For example, I think we can lose Gulden and we’d be absolutely a worse side but our unique weapons in Chad and Blakey would be able to take up some of the slack in terms of their run, overlap, and kicking skills around...
I think three talls is ideal and it has also helped us to play our best footy over the last two years. I think it depends on who the three talls are and how they are playing. I wouldn’t like the idea of going into a game with only Logan and McLean as our talls; we saw how Logan got dominated by...
Agree with this too. Hayward out of the square looked good. I like that they’ve let him off from having to do all the grunt running and the forward defensive roles (Fox stood on Lever much of the night from what I saw). And hopefully focusing him on being maximially damaging with the ball inside...
Robbie Fox was nowhere near our best but being at the ground helped me see how hard he was working as the high half forward runner type that bedford accurately forecasted he would be. His running is quite something to watch live. A couple of shots at goal and some quality tackles made it a good...
I think their glut of small runners that you list is gonna be a huge weapon given how the game is played with so much dependent on hard run off HB and through the wings with precision kicking - those guys are gonna be huge weapons imo.
I'd also add that the Saints have been maligned for being...
I must say, at first when thinking about this season I thought St.Kilda were gonna fall out of the 8 very confidently. I actually think the more I consider them the more I think they'll be a top 6 team. You look at their best 23 and it's got more stars or possible stars (AA types is how I think...
Only change I could see to this could be Melican left out because Melbourne’s forward line isn’t that tall. That would mean Roberts into the 22 as a defender rather than sub and then probably Fox as sub.
Logan kicked all four on Leek Aleer, who looks pretty exciting as an offensive/intercepting defender but has a looong way to go in terms of his defensive skills.
Good to see Logan kicking well and active already in the year but I suspect he’ll be playing on much stiffer competition almost...
I agree with this - Rowbottom's skill particularly when delivering inside 50 and around goals I think are actually properly underrated.
I'm not on the Sheldrick is better than Rowbottom train - I think comparing them right now as an overall playyer is kinda pointless, but I do think comparing...
I actually think one of Sheldrick's most exciting components of his game is that so far he's been very good at finding uncontested ball. Rowbottom is an inside mid to his core - he tackles like a maniac and will tend to win more contested ball than uncontested ball. Sheldrick in his games so far...
I think Campbell will be a 200 game player and have a good long career but I also don't think Campbell will ever be a top flight player at AFL level - by that, I mean an AA calibre player. I think that mainly because I don't see the overwhelming levels of confidence in himself that most top...
I think Hayward will be subject to a good offer or two from the SA clubs. And, without any inside knowledge, I reckon when push comes to shove Hayward will be allowed to leave if he gets a big offer. Rowbottom and Florent I doubt will be going anywhere.
I actually reckon that’s quite harsh on Roberts. I never once thought he looked off the pace at seniors level - to me he looked liked he fit in whilst playing various fairly low expectation roles; across HF, sub, wing, a bit of inside mid on occasion without getting heaps of time in any spot to...
I doubt there’s any reality where he can be a player like Vlastuin. That guy was a top 10 pick as a defender and has basically only played as a defender across his junior and senior career and has been excellent all the while. It’d take an enormous run of development from Roberts to turn into a...
I’m keen to see the preseason match play to find out where they put McInerney. He was great playing as a high HF in the back-end of last year and I’d be pretty keen to keep him there, allowing Gulden, Campbell and Jordon to take the wings. Maybe he pushes up on to a wing now and then but I loved...
Of course I'm keen to keep Logan and I'm very fond of him as a player but I am without concern if he does leave - we've lost excellent young players in the past and we'll lose them again in the future. The club is stronger than losing one player.
I think it would heighten our efforts to go all...
They still have so much talent with their top core of players - Petracca, Viney, Fritsch, Gawn, Lever, May, Pickett are all top class in their parts of the field. But doesn't feel like a group that is all pushing the wheel in the same direction and at the same time, to butcher a few cliches. And...
