    GWS Trade

I know the majority of people have assumed that Adam Treloar is definitely off at seasons end but it could be an interesting next few days. From his words and actions at the after game signing session on Saturday I would say he is more likely to be staying than going. He was one of the first out...

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

So today in the age/smh Sheedy has advised that for a pick 1 trade the player offered must be in the 24/25 age range and in the top 5 players at the current club. Combine this with what is already known ie must be a ruckman or defender and the field is limited so much that unless Carlton throw...

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

When the club was talking mature ruckman they may have thinking Kreuzer aged 24 or Leuenburger Aged 25 ( I know not available now) not a 29yo who has a couple of years left. But hey lets see, I would be surprised if they trade it with anyone but astounded if they trade with the dogs for Minson.

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

Do all those people saying the Giants might Trade pick 1 for Minson and pick 3 realize he will be 29 next April. There wont be a deal that trades one of the biggest prospects for years for a 29 yo Ruckman. Imagine the uproar in 3 years when Minson is retiring and Boyd is kicking goals with...

Review Round 16 - GWS Giants vs Sydney Swans @SCG

How many weeks in a row has Thornton been the leading goal kicker in the 2's? It would be good to see him thrown in to provide a target against the experienced Swans backline. Even if he is not in the long term plans he would prove competitive this weekend and provide a different experienced...

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

From what Andy Maher said this morning it appears he just doesn't want to be at the club, which would explain why he hasn't made his debut yet. Having spent so many weeks in the Magoos it is hard to believe that he wouldn't have tasted senior footy yet either as a key forward or back. Who...

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

Mate, facts are that all draftees are not going to be happy or they will see they may not be part of the big picture. Take Jaksch , if the Giants get Franklin or draft Boyd ( or both), then being the 4th or 5th Tall forward in the queue is probably not the best place to be. From the Giants...

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

Agree, I see no situation where Jaksch would be traded with pick 1. Imagine what a rival would have to offer to pick up 2 Key forwards who will both likely play for the next 12 years. What do people reckon Jaksch would bring from clubs struggling for key forwards in the way of trading for Key...

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

I have changed my thinking on us trading Boyd, I originally thought we would trade him but now I reckon it is far from certain. I now think we have enough young kids to trade out ( who may want to go) and fill our requirements of a couple of solid back men and another ruckman without trading...

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

I just can't see the Giants trading away Boyd who looks like a potential 14 year player whose marketing ability alone would be huge due to the hype for Minson who is late 20's and gives a 3 or 4 year ( max ) return all going well with injuries. To then trade away Jaksch who would appear to hold...

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

From what was said by Andy Maher on radio this morning it appears that clubs will be chasing Jaksch during this trade period. In his words 'he is considered by many smart people as a gun but isn't trying because he wants out'. If he is correct and the kid wants out surely trading him this year...

    Chad Cornes retires

Correct description. There aren't many warriors left due to the changing nature of the game. How about his effort last year against Adel down there , he looked like he was prepared to take them on by himself.

Higgins + 3 would be a touch light on. Some have suggested Minson + Higgins + 3 for Boyd would be closer to the mark. Minson is 28 but seems sound physically, Higgins injury prone last few years would be a concern.

    Chad Cornes retires

He was great for us last year. Great career. I am sure he will be a good coach as he will have so much respect within the team.

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

It would seem that the 3 clubs who would give almost anything for Pick 1 and Boyd are the Bulldogs, Saints and Carlton. It will be interesting to see what they all put up.

List Mgmt. 2013 draft and trading

It will be fascinating to see what they do with Boyd. My only concern with these big kids is that they might be solid enough but they still generally take years to develop the strength to go with the size. Look at Patton, it is easy to see the huge future he has but he hasn't exactly monstered...

Probably good points under normal circumstances but I think we have to appreciate why the club administration are so keen on getting Buddy at all costs. While no doubt a player of his ability will help the team on field it is the media and off field potential they will be chasing. Even if we...

Without seeing how the players contracts are set up we are only guessing but I would suspect that we will not have any of the original mature players like Scully, Davis, Ward, Palmer etc on huge dollars over the next 3 years as their contracts were so heavily front ended, we were able to take...

Review Round 15 GWS Giants vs Western Bulldogs @ STARTRACK OVAL

Maybe you are right suggesting that O'Rourke and Jaksch won't both debut together but the alternative viewpoint would be that against the dogs who are another youngish side that the opportunity might be there to throw them both in. I just hope we stick another key position forward in to take...

2nds UWS Giants - GWS NEAFL (reserves) team 2013

I think it is a good idea to drop these boys like Coniglio back to the 2's if they have a quiet one in a bid to get them hungry. Even though ours is a young team without a win we want to see these kids earn games in the seniors.

Review Round 15 GWS Giants vs Western Bulldogs @ STARTRACK OVAL

With the exception of Patton it would appear that most of our list will be open for selection. I would include Cameron, Plowman, Tyson, Davis, Cogniglio, Jaksch, O'Rouke. Possible consideration to Thornton, Bugg, Phillips. This should be our strongest team of the year.

GWS confirm Buddy talks are underway.

My guess is that GWS will be looking to trade pick 1 ( Boyd) to teams like Carlton, St Kilda, Bulldogs and anyone else who needs a key forward in return for a top line ruckman or a key back plus a first round pick. Having already committed to Patton , Cameron and with the likelihood of picking...

2nds UWS Giants - GWS NEAFL (reserves) team 2013

Good to see such a strong reserve grade side fielded. Its going to be handy having guys like Davis, Phillips, Tyson, Cogniglio, Jaksch, O Rouke , Bugg all fit and fresh ready to make an impact at AFL level. How do people reckon this team would have gone against the AFL side this week?

Review Round 14 GWS Giants vs North Melbourne @Etihad Stadium

I predict Scully will explode next year. He is getting stronger with every pre season, he already has elite endurance and solid skills. He might not be a huge disposal gatherer but it should be remembered that Sheedy has him playing in mostly run with roles to educate him on the defensive side...

MVP MVP: Round 14 GWS Giants vs North Melbourne

5 - Greene - was good to see his disposal efficiency improve so much today 4 - Tomlinson - shaping as a solid 3rd or 4th forward next year, moved well 3 - Gilham - I was impressed by his composure under plenty of pressure today 2 - Hoskin-Elliott - worked hard and showed plenty of...

Review Round 14 GWS Giants vs North Melbourne @Etihad Stadium

Unfortunately we always seem to strike North when they are angry after a bad loss. Going to be a dangerous arvo under the roof at Etihad against a hungry Kangaroos outfit. Phil Davis should help no end if he returns ( not sure if he comes straight in to the seniors after a long lay off). Agree...

    Mistakes....we've made a few

Considering that Leon Cameron will be a major factor if we get Franklin next year thru their Hawthorn connection I have to disagree that Choco would have been a better choice for head coach. As for the player comparisons only time will tell but one thing to take into account is that the...

    CH7 Jeremy Cameron #Discovered

He will be doing the club proud both on and off the field for hopefully many years to come. What a refreshing attitude he has. Even if we do sign a superstar next year in Buddy you can still see Jeremy Cameron being a fan favourite, he is just a likeable character.

Review Round 12 GWS Giants v Port Adelaide 1:10 PM June 16 @ Skoda

I appreciate after a disappointing arvo at the footy it is easy to overreact but some of the doom and gloom posts above seem to over look the fact that we have the return of 2 of our strongest defenders in Davis and Gilham to come who will make a huge difference. We have Dom Tyson getting fitter...
