Continuing from my previous post.
Port's record against bottom 10 teams under Ken Hinkley is 108 wins, 28 losses.
Also, in regards to the culture at Port, it's quite bizarre how the players hate the fans and the comments from Charlie Dixon about the fans had me scratching my head thinking WTF?
It's very tough to win a premiership in this league if you're based outside of Victoria, and GWS this year had a very similar year to Port in 2014 so it won't surprise me if they tread water from here like Port did from 2015 onwards.
10 of the last 16 premiership winners have been teams that...
Your club have been constantly on the receiving end of bad karma ever since stabbing South Australia in the back.
Chokers, dream final, 119, tarps, crippling debt etc.
Let me guess, it's the SANFL's fault that Port Adelaide have been in a weak financial position over the years?
How come you left out West Coast when talking about soulless clubs?
West Coast are also further away from winning another premiership than ourselves, Fremantle or Port Adelaide are.
Also, note how every club has either changed coach or made a grand final within the last 3 years, with the...
Hey rapidfire7 your thread about Sydney reminded me of this thread, I remember reading it after Sydney lost the grand final last year.
Is the Bloods Culture still a thing?
Port's record against top 4 teams under Ken Hinkley is 16 wins, 46 losses.
Also, the culture they have is bizarre because their players can't get up for big finals or for Russell Ebert's tribute match.
It shows they play for the coach and don't play for the club, the jumper or the supporters.
I don't see Port winning any flags for as long as Ken Hinkley is coach.
Ken Hinkley has become the Adrian Dodoro of coaching, and I remember when we had our own version in Steven Trigg.
Port didn't really have much choice given they're controlled by the AFL, and Ken Hinkley ticks all the KPIs the AFL require from them.
AFL yes man. ✅
Victorian media love him. ✅
60% win percentage. ✅
Home crowds above 30k. ✅
10 wins minimum per year. ✅
Multiple top 4 finishes. ✅
Membership...
Port betrayed the rest of the SANFL clubs by going behind their backs and attempting to gain entry to the AFL, and your club are middle of the road for AFL payments because the AFL are propping up the small Victorian clubs, the NSW clubs and the Queensland clubs.
Your club haven't been able to...
What about now? I know Port are top 2 but it feels like they're making up the numbers, their veterans have hit the wall and Ken's tactical nous has been exposed.
Sydney and South Melbourne are technically two separate clubs. I remember reading a post from Roylion explaining how the Swans licence was transferred to a separate entity, hence the Swans selling their soul along with being under AFL control today, rather than being controlled by their members.
Port sold their soul when they ran out of money in 2011, and would have folded if it weren't for AFL intervention. It's similar to how the Swans sold their soul when they moved to Sydney.
Despite having a self proclaimed finance guru as their president, the club remains millions of dollars in...
Carlton seem primed for a premiership assault after beating the top 2 in Collingwood and Port in recent weeks.
It seems as though we're beginning to see the affects of Voss and his nourishments pay off.
Why are they blaming Hinkley when Carr is the one doing the coaching? They want to credit Carr for wins and blame Hinkley for losses. Can't have it both ways.
Should Hawthorn be stripped of draft picks for the racism saga? I think they should, regardless of what Eddie McGuire thinks.
We had our first and second round picks in the 2012 and 2013 drafts stripped for doing something far, far less than what Hawthorn have done.
I didn't know Essendon and Richmond was a big rivalry? Always thought it was no more a rivalry than Collingwood and Hawthorn, aka two big Melbourne clubs that always draw big crowds when they play, but aren't hated rivals.
Carlton need to bring in older veterans who know how to win and bring leadership.
Melbourne did it by bringing in Cross, Vince and Lewis to help mentor the younger players, and Brisbane did it by bringing in Hodge and Birchall.
Essendon even did similar by bringing in James Kelly and Paul...
I remember Carlton going after Brad Scott in 2021 and Scott telling them he's not interested.
I wonder why Brad Scott was happy to coach Essendon, but not interested in coaching Carlton?
It's not like Essendon have been known for success and board stability over the last 20 years, either.
Does anyone know whether Tasmania are going to be AFL controlled or member controlled?
Port coming close to folding in 2011 is the main cause of your club becoming AFL controlled, and I remember similar happening with Sydney in the 90s when they came close to folding.
How long until your club...
Carlton and St Kilda were both 8-3 this time last year. Do you think Port are similar to those sides, or do you think they're the real deal?
I know Port supporters are keeping a lid on it as they remember missing finals in 2018 after being 11-4, but something about them feels different this...
When does Port cease being AFL controlled and become member controlled? Port are no chance of being a force while the club is AFL controlled, and when David Koch leaves, he'll just be replaced by another AFL plant.
Our club has a clause to become member controlled by 2028 with AFL control to...
Port played terrible against Richmond and still won. In previous years under Hinkley, they would have lost that game, along with the Melbourne game the previous week.
Here's why I think Port might be different compared to 2017, 2020 and 2021 when they had high ladder finishes.
Their record of 4-2 against the top 8 shows they can beat the best teams, while in 2017, 2020 and 2021, their record against the best teams was poor.
Would you be happy for Hinkley to coach Richmond if they decide it's time to part ways with Hardwick?
You could say that about any of 2005, 2006, 2012, 2017.
All golden opportunities we've had since we last won a flag, only to fall short.
