    Opinion Commentary & Media IX

I was there for both Prelims.... Footy was fun to watch back then. No ARC, no reversal for talking back to an umpire, a tackle that hurt the opposition was know as a GREAT TACKLE.

    Player Watch #7: Zane Duursma

Can you imagine Duursma in the current Hawks team? With the amount of inside fifties and precise ball use. How many goals do you think he would have? Remember, they had the next pick after us and were absolutely livid, when we got the compo pick which put us one spot ahead of them in the draft.

Game Day Game Day Thread vs Geelong - the Souvlaki Revenge Game

Note to Brady. Stop recruiting our back men from the local SDS school.

Player Watch #24: Tom Powell - signed thru 2028

I know it is a little thing, but what's with the hair style? Is this a joke for Tommy boy? Because it seems that way, when he plays... Could have had Serong or Pickett over this vanilla dud. He might be laughing, but I am crying.

    Preview 2026 MSD Draft Prospects

I like Dow from our VFL. For midfield depth.

Player Watch #44: Cameron Zurhaar The Backman

    I'd play him on stringer.

Player Watch #45: Zac 'Banga' Banch - re-signs for 2026

Zac was stiff. I dont mind giving Spargo another game. But he is mainly there for his creativity and can hit a target inside 50. But Zac could be that defensive, maniac tackling machine. Thats a good mix. Not sure if Dova brings the manic pressure for 4 quarters yet. We need at least one...

Player Watch #3: Harry Sheezel - 23 AFL RS/NM SBM, AFLPA BYP, '24 AA squad, '24 AFLCA BYP, '25 joint SBM winner, '26 NMFC VC

When Degoey, Sidebottom, etc. are retired and Daicos is not protected each week and has to do some two way running, then compare him to Sheezal.

Player Watch #44: Cameron Zurhaar The Backman

Got to learn to give it off, first time. Looks selfish. He is in the leadership group now.

Thought he was pathetic. Vanilla is the perfect description. He is soft as butter.

Player Watch #45: Zac 'Banga' Banch - re-signs for 2026

But Banch has something over JK, you wont find in the statistics..... A football brain.

Game Day ROUND 4 Nmfc v Carlton - Good Friday 2026

What a bunch of weak campaigners North are. They make me sick.

Sent email to Brady. Drop Tarrant and dont play him again to after MSD.

Player Watch #33: Brayden 'Sausage' George - contracted until end 2026

Bragging rights? I just said I saw him play a good game. What are you stupid?

Player Watch #33: Brayden 'Sausage' George - contracted until end 2026

I saw him 3 weeks ago against Bombers in a VFL practice match at Arden St. He was building nicely. Looked good. I wouldn't be writing him off after one game.

Player Watch #34: Jackson Archer - will miss entire 2026 season after tearing ACL at training on Saturday 10/1

The only thing Jackson has excelled at are the end of season trip. And he should be right for this year's too. Then the season starts, plays a string of games, then gets injured. Very lucky to get extended so quickly.

Player Watch #45: Zac 'Banga' Banch - re-signs for 2026

He was recently in the injury group. So maybe just bringing him in slowly. Ala Corr and Lmac last week playing reserves.

    VFL The North VFL Thread

I was delighted to see B. George yesterday. He is all class. He looks like an AFL footballer. He reminds me a bit of Gary Lyon, with his leap and skills. Yesterday he went ballistic, when a player up the field ignored his lead. Didn't dominate, but worked his way into the game. He will...

Banger Banch was very very good. I reckon B.O.G. The pressure is on for Kostanty because Banch is ready to take his place....

    VFL The North VFL Thread

Losing the clearances, but still winning. Corr has been solid. I thought B. George is getting involved. Spent the first quarter solely as a forward. Started the second in the backline and wing Did some nice things. Hugo. Clever user. Smart footballer. For the eighties lovers. Banch reminds...

    VFL The North VFL Thread

Banch is very smart. Playing well. River S. Is a surprise. Causing a lot of headaches. Hugo looks composed. Uses the ball well. Best on ground......the weather.....magnificent day at Arden St.

Unofficial Preview Round 1 2026: Vs Port - Getting Horney

North girls back at the club early getting ready for 2026 and a potential threepeat. I heard Nick Daicos, didnt play the practice match vs North, but went for a 10km run. Meanwhile a month out before the season starts, and the North boys are still on the pI55. Make it Happen? LOL

List Mgmt. 2026 Trade and List Management Thread

I reckon the Salary cap limit should be based on where you end up on the ladder. So basically, the premier should have a smaller salary cap, than the team on the bottom. So if a team like Brisbane, want to bring in O Allen, they can only do so if they offload senior regulars. Meanwhile, the...
