He trying to have a discussion, but doesn't realise bigfooty values ego and club loyalty over rationale and reasoned debate, hence why it is a zoo filled with morons.
Imo you are seriously underrating how good saints and pies were.
Also many argue a reason why 2014 was so close was because 567 moved up and 123 dropped back. There are plenty of good stats to back this up, and so many ppl think the top 3-4 teams havent quite reached the heights of cats...
Haha, righto. I'm watching a doco on ancient Egypt and lost civilisations and posting on two other forums atm....I skip back to bigfooty to give people like you s**t, fool.
That only happened in the last 13 months, when Geelong had slipped significantly from their peak, as have the other juggernaughts of the years before.
Go back and read the thread.
Not sure what you mean there.
For me the 2009-11 period was the most aggressive, high quality footy the game has ever seen, and as pretentious or nostalgic as it may sound, I actually feel little privileged to have witnessed it. Something I will tell me kids about one day.
The game since 2011...
His points are totally valid, and given the inconsistency of the draw and team form throughout seasons, how strong a team is come finals can often be significantly more or less compared to h&a records. I'm happy to admit saints and collingwood were better teams than Sydney in 2012 and 2014...
We've done it multiple times and a handful of hawthorn supporters start crying every time the majority come to the conclusion they aren't better than geelong, then they irrationally defend themselves, then everyone gives them s**t, then they accuse ppl of obsessing over hawthorn, then we laugh...
Sorry buddy, but you are yet another delusional hawthorn supporter thinking everyone is posting in hawthorn threads talking about hawthorn and thinking about hawthorn. Sorry to break it to ya but its not the case.
I have nothing against hawthorn supporters in general, just the 20 or so douchebags that stroke themselves on here.
As for back-to-back, wayyy too many of you are incredibly sensitive....which is why so many are laughing on the other boards.
Hawthron are a great team, just dont get ahead of...
lols at all the ENVIOUS accusations....fools are stroking each other in delusions of grandeur. keep stroking boys, everyone is laughing at you.
...so precious, so so precious.
This sticks out for me. Geelong's efforts against the quality of the pies, saints and hawthorn between 07-11 was exceptional. The best period to watch footy since the 90s imo.
I agree the 2007-2013 period had exceptionally strong depth towards the top (Geelong, Saints, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Sydney, Freo), and we've seen it slide back slightly towards the average since, but competition towards the top is never 'easy'.
11 wins in a row is what I was referring to. Maybe hammering is the wrong word.
maybe embarrassed?
humiliated?
mortified?
slammed?
conquered?
I dont know, you choose one.
I wouldnt be so sure. The H&A speaks for a lot. They did it over a longer period, more consistently, and had the wood over you guys for a big chunk of your era. You guys didnt beat them until just over 13 months ago.
Plus in 2008 their team made up almost half of the all-australian. (or was...
Anyone else feel this year we had too much focus on our forward line? And Hawthorn focused more on an even spread?
Feels a little like played a little of their game plan from 2012....and they played ours : /
From the autopsy thread....is along the same lines of my earlier concerns from this thread.
After today's effort it is easy to forget we just had one of the strongest seasons in our history. That said, I prefer how we played throughout the 2012 season with a goal-kicking midfield. It felt...
Clean out? No, we just had close to our strongest season EVER.
The players cared.
Mal had a high DE, he was one of our best, but still had a poor game.
Tippett/Franklin weren't the problem since they work in the forward line....and the ball didnt go there.
