Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

That’s due to lack of resources. Lack of a strong plan from the CEO and Prez is to blame here. Spend an overwhelming proportion of the soft cap on Clarko and his mates, while other areas are de-prioritised. These were conscious decisions made by those at the top. Those supporters that...

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

This is 20 odd years of stuff. I’m sure if I looked back 20 odd years of the tigers before they won their flag in 2017 I’d have a similar list. Our star forward doing his knee on the right SCG boundary, which was widened as a result. Our key defender breaking his leg in the same game and...

4 year contract as well. Also gave Fisher 5 years.

What would you trade for inevitable North Melbourne Priority Pick (2024)?

They don’t deserve any more. Probably time for the supporters to start asking some hard questions to Viney, Clarkson, the CEO and the Prez. What’s the on and off field strategy for this club, and what are the benchmarks for success? Where are they at for setting a standard in culture and...

What was learnt from Derby 58.

JLo’s manager is a magician. Got him signed up again at JUST the right time.

    Speculation Will Phillips

Flight risks are hard to assess aren’t they? You claim Logan is one, but not long after you guys overlooked him you went and bet the house on another guy who went home after one year. It’s a fine line between backing your culture in and drafting the best talent for them to stay with you. But...

Player Watch Harley Reid isnt leading the rising star so far

I would also love to see an example of these punishments. Many clubs have done this over the years. What have been the punitive damages to doing so?

Player Watch Harley Reid isnt leading the rising star so far

Clarko did it in the early 2000s. In saying that, would there be any big investigation calling out North losing to Gold Coast last year? Let’s just say that their win was completely unexpected. So if they won, no one would have booked an eye.

Player Watch Harley Reid isnt leading the rising star so far

I struggle to understand why Clarkson, who is obviously pro-tanking, decided to play his teams best in the last round last year to lose the rights to Reid? There was nothing to gain. Don’t talk to me about culture or leadership. There was none there. Instead of Reid and McKercher they got...

    Speculation Will Phillips

Logan and Cadman would have solved your tall forwards. Imagine Larkey getting a chop out from those two. Thomas was a shame but the club should have been big enough to identify him as a problem early enough and trade him out for a top pick the year before. Gold Coast were keen along with...

It's Happening Ross Lyon is Back to Coach St Kilda - Presser Link in OP

Tend to agree with that assessment. After Port the draw opens up for them. 5-5 is realistic. If they win 8 of the last 13 that puts them at 13 wins. Probably 6-7 on the ladder. They’d be 50-50 to win that one against the likes of their peers - Essendon, Western Bulldogs, Geelong, Gold Coast...

Roast St Kilda in no mans land

They had a dead cat bounce with Ross last year. They have a decent squad, one that should account for the likes of their peers in Essendon and the Bulldogs. The big question sits with the competency of their coach. They have handed him the keys, let him hire his own yes men and fire those that...

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

Ahh then I spose be beat Joe that day who only kicked 5.4. Did he also contain Cameron last weekend? Forget how many goals he kicked, just focus on the 1v1s he won.

Worst coach sacking in VFL/AFL history

Another victim of Kevin Sheedy and his penchant for playing favourites.

Opinion North Melbourne Priority Picks Part 2 - 2023/2024

Fantasy points are great for dream team, but key defenders are usually employed to stop their opponents. How many scoring shots did Joe have on Combden that day? Was it eight or nine? Not sure if he got Cameron last week as well? He’s got a bit of work to do as a stopper.

Autopsy AFL 2024 Round 5 - Port v Freo Sat April 13th 7:30pm AEST (AO)

Port should be bullying these guys on their home ground. They need to win to establish themselves as a legitimate flag contender.

Roast St Kilda in no mans land

What do people expect? They are a 6-12 team. Fighting it out for a spot in the bottom half of the 8 with Essendon, WB, Freo.

    Speculation Liam Baker

If you are comparing Barnett and Maric to Naismith and Kosi I’d say no thanks. If Hough is a small defensive stopper I’d rather you kept him and we looked for one with a late third or rookie pick. I liked the look of A Reid as a junior though. He lacks athleticism but has grunt and ability to...

    Speculation Liam Baker

Just looked at their kids. Their cupboard is pretty bare. Would obviously take Reid. Ginbey isn’t rolled gold but has potential. I like Hewett but not sure he can keep his body right. Would take Reid because he’s tall. Not sure there would be many others. It’s going to be a long rebuild. I’d...

Fair enough. Good for other clubs if the Eagle burn their salary cap on players they don’t need.

    Speculation Liam Baker

The poster I responded to said Bakers not a need but a nice to have. Giving up draft collateral and ponying up a contract in excess of $800k for 5+ years would be stupid for a club to burn on a player they didn’t ‘need’, Do you disagree with this assertion?
  25. R

    Speculation Liam Baker

Hmm… so 800k for a player you guys don’t really need. Sounds like prudent salary cap management to me. Lucky Matt Clarkes in the seat and not you.
  26. R

    Speculation Liam Baker

If west coast are offering him a long term contract at $800k+ they do believe they need baker, and it is a biggie. Clubs won’t offer this to players they don’t need and are just ‘nice’ to have. But let’s see what they come back to him with and indeed if there is any interest.

    Speculation Liam Baker

Lucky the new West Coast list manager is a decent bloke. He’s known to have a pretty good relationship with other clubs in trading and providing fair value. He will do the same if he’s keen on getting Baker across. Hope he stays though.

Autopsy AFL 2024 Round 5 - Demons v Lions Thurs April 11th 7:30pm AEST (MCG)

This will go a long way in giving them the belief that the MCG holds no fear for them. And rightly so, a premiership contender should be able to win anywhere. This gives them a good platform to build into this season. Top 4 for me.

Autopsy AFL 2024 Round 5 - Demons v Lions Thurs April 11th 7:30pm AEST (MCG)

Nah, I’ve enjoyed the interactions my club has had with your mob. I quite like the Bears. But go ahead and show me the previous posts I’ve made about them to show how they live rent free in my head hollow. I’m intrigued you seem to think you know so much about what players seem to bug me and I...
