Fairly unsuccessful review IMO. The plan was to move hamilton and portland into a victorian based league - which they achieved and the sa based clubs and casterton into a new sa based comp - which never happened.
Have heard 2 clubs are looking at joining the western border next year. Anyone heard anything. I am guessing one of those clubs is penola, who would the other club be?
I don't see the wbfl and kntfl merging within the next couple of years - not with travelling. I think a couple of clubs in the kntfl won't survive but that could be years away.
Going by this season I don't see what option they have but to leave. They will still lose players at seasons end to other clubs, retirements, players going to adelaide, you would expect next year to be even tougher. It think transferring in sa is a little different to the vcfl. It states a...
2 clubs mentioned in the paper considering leaving the kntfl. Padthaway has been mentioned at going to a league closer to Adelaide - which one?. Who is the other club?
I was assuming it was kaniva to the wimmera league.
All 6 wbfl clubs need to get together and take a vote. Vote to stay in the wbfl and watch their clubs deteriorate or vote to join the mid se and have a future.
Wbfl was not even close to full strength, there were a number of players that normally represent the league that werent there. The kntfl vs wbfl was a high quality game and wbfl had there chances. The wbfl was always going to have trouble finding an opponent for merrett.
Yeah clubs would have to split to make it work. Three way mergers have worked before though. Dont most goroke people prefer to play victoria way anyway
Have heard millicent are still considering joining the mid se next year. Be interesting to see what happens with the rest of the wbfl if it goes ahead. The rest of the clubs may be absorbed into another league, don't think they will run a 5 team comp.
Would have to offer some insentives to come over - such as hosting finals, extra games in the home away season? I'd say the situation with millicent complicates things.
Millicent are being sooks. The complaint being they didn't host finals this year even though the wbfl gave them extra home games. I didn't hear any complaints from the mount clubs over the draw?
From what I'm hearing none of the mid se clubs want them in fact a couple loathe the idea.
Why would...
Heard that penola have been talking to their players about possibly joining next year. Apparently there is another club in the mix....has anyone heard anything???
It sounds like the sanfl want the mount district clubs to compete in the wbjfl. Could there be a junior restructure in the mid se...
Looking like east will be wooden spooners this year perhaps even winless. Casterton and sandford wont merge. Heard this is the second time both clubs have discussed a merger and both times sandford pulled out.
Bad move by the saints recruiting travis wilson into the club. Byron Picket doesn't look fit and I cant see why a club would spend this sort of money on a player and not recruit locally
In the paper that robe have stated that with the way things are going they would have to merge with kingston. How has kingston being going the this way for the past few years.
I think Marcus England from portland is worth a mention here - dual league medalist, runner up once or twice, probably would have won a third if it was not for unforseen circumstances.
