As someone who wanted to draft Elijah Hollands with Pick 3 and having watched him closely since, I can tell you categorically he’s been sh*thouse. His best game was against us in a 56 point demolition.
Wills best games at AFL level are better than anything Hollands has produced.
Whilst some of Clarksons game day selection/tactics/coaching should absolutely be questioned given the teams current performance, I for one am very happy that we have such a senior coach driving the ship. A first time coach would be a lamb to the slaughter right now.
The only senior players we should be acquiring are ones that are unconditional for 2 hours on the weekend. Lobb ain’t that, it’s a Polec-esc mercenary type pick up. We already have enough of those, when will we learn?
Morale is pretty low at the moment. I don’t think publicly potting individual players is the best way to improve.
I know for a fact there are some tense conversations happening behind closed doors, but we can’t seriously expect that he should call those things out.
Walked past the Hawthorn coaches box on Sunday. They literally had a board up with “LDU”, I assume tracking his influence. Clubs are putting an enormous amount of time into him. He’s our one wood and is getting very little help. Anyone that thinks we can afford to lose him need to f*kn educate...
Can’t really blame him for holding off, can we?
Has experienced 8 years of this, still no real end in sight.
Sees McKay, JHF, Tarryn and Zur next year all experience more wins in a season then he’s had for 4.
Club has done itself little favours for a sustained period of time.
Tex bag ✅
Fogarty bag ✅
Rankine to have 20+ and 3 goals ✅
Scott 3x turn overs exiting d50 resulting in goals ✅
Simpkin 2x turn overs going i50 resulting in goals ✅
Time to start doing things differently Al. Only positive out of today is that hopefully it will be forced. The club adopting a “oh it’s Clarkson, he will just sort it” mentality is not going to work.
Agreed.
And if not (he’s not in the leadership group for a reason), it needs to be addressed via coaching & structures. 5 losses later and it hasn’t been.
I do think he needs to lift. But also feel free to go back and watch the Carlton game and what happened when they eased the Hewett move in Q3. Equally I don’t think we are providing him the platform to perform at his best…
Yeah he’s been going just ok. Oppositions when they plan for us have been sending a big mid to sit on him at stoppage. Dunkley and Hewett both did it to good effect. They let Powell and Wardlaw do what they want for the most part. Again I think it can be helped by throwing another big body in...
I’m really pleased that Montagna put this under the spotlight. Our midfield structure / coaching has been a disaster this year. For me, this is on Clarkson and Adams.
Our structure at CBAs are a joke. The Ricky graphic below reflects it perfectly. You’re not playing the chances, in fact you’re...
I listened to the McKay interview. Watson tried to set him up for a headline North comparison comment. I thought he actually answered it quite well. Reiterated three times he loved his time at North and didn't want to compare. Anyone disagree after listening to the whole interview or we going...
Kingy has been on this for a while. Our kids are playing out of their weight class and being let down by our leaders / senior players. Our leaders who cannot execute basic skills, who make basic structural errors, the list goes on.
I don’t really agree tbh. I think our structure / system / game plan (whatever you want to call it) is a significant part of our issues. Statistically our players, particularly our young players are going ok. They have no system to fall back on though. If they don’t win first possession, the...
Sure they have. Which means we need multiple avenues for transitioning the football. Unfortunately we are also persisting with “senior” guys like Tucker, Jy, Scott etc. who cannot execute fundamental skills. So anything that isn’t Powell or Sheezel breaks down and results in a turn over.
What we don’t have the cattle for is chip chip chip possession footy. We are still the most scored team against on turn over, so I’m not sure what his realisation is protecting.
