Certified Legendary Thread Sad news regarding Fredleduex

Damn. That is sad news. I was always happy to read Fred's posts - very direct, often insightful and fun too. He'll definitely be missed.

Couldn't say it any better than this. What a wonderful career and legacy to leave behind!

Review Geelong beat Doggies by 5 points and break their hearts.

Yes, he definitely has his limitations. Though he went through a 5-10 minute period in one of the middle quarters where his tap work was great in a string of ruck contests. Surprised me, the level of skill. So perhaps there's hope there.

Game Day 2019 QF - Cats v Pies

Agree with the theory. However, there often seems to be opposition small forwards who do well against us. And the Pies are fully loaded with an array of them.

Game Day 2019 QF - Cats v Pies

Whoever said they were worried about Collingwood's forward line - I echo those remarks. Our midfield have to perform really well to try to get the ball to the other end of the ground. Won't be easy because Grundy. Nervous as hell! Go Cats!

Duncan was superb today. Seems like it hasn't been said enough so far.

C Guthrie cops a bit on here. He looked strong today - tackled hard. Maybe went missing for a while? But was important for the win.

I didn't see Zuthrie as too much of a problem. What was he doing wrong from your look?

Game Day Geelong V Essendon Sun May5 @ MCG

I've done all I can for the Cats. I've tipped incorrectly every week for Geelong games this season. Tipped Essendon this week...

Opinion Will we make the finals? Do your ladder predictor.

Isn't it already certain that Geelong plays Sydney at the SCG in two weeks regardless of the outcome of Melb v GWS?

Universal Love Steve Johnson "The cat with the giant story"

The version of the 2011 GF that I watched showed Chapman (with Bartel) being super effective in the packs from halfway through the second quarter through to the end of the third. Helped us big time in getting back into the game.

Game Day Geelong VS Adelaide @7:50pm AEST

Wow. 29 degrees right now. Projected to be down to 20 degrees by 8.00 Still pretty warm though. Hard work for the runners.

Review Geelong defeats Sydney by 59 points

Good to read through this thread. Some great comments. And some pretty good Swans folks chipping in with their 'well-played' and 'good luck' messages. I was too afraid to look at the post-Richmond-game thread last week. I was guilty of giving Geelong no chance against the Swans. What an...

Play Nice The "Clean Slate" Pledge, 2017 - 58 pledges so far

I rarely post, but count me in. If the personal attacks were minimised and points could be made once or twice rather than endlessly, it would be far more readable and constructive - and far less painful. :)

Very, very sad news. A blow to this community for sure. Condolences to his family. His humour and contributions can't be replaced. But I'll remember his offerings with a smile. Wicked sense of humour!

Opinion Josh Cowan - worth the wait?

I'm happy to see Cowan signed up again. He improved markedly on his previous brief attempts in the seniors. I'm firmly on the side of being quite impressed with his composure and skill - and the more he played the better this aspect became. He shows great endeavour and good fitness for someone...

Review QF-Geelong defeat Hawthorn by 2 points

Scooter was well worth the inclusion. Has that Selwood relentlessness and instinctive footballing nous. Dangerfield's game was odd. I would have thought after the first five times his kicks were smothered by two Hawks over his leg that he might have cottoned on. Kept trying to do it himself and...

Review QF-Geelong defeat Hawthorn by 2 points

I thought Duncan was amongst our most composed all game. There were a lot of nervous players out there, fumbling or making poor decisions. But Mitch played one of his most effective games. Not huge numbers of possessions but decisive marking and no sign of nerves or panic. Impressive.

Preview Round 22: Brisbane Vs Geelong. Gabba Sunday 3:20PM

To counter the parking of the bus, can't they just go again to what just worked against Richmond - moving both Taylor and Henderson to join Hawkins as marking targets in the clogged forward line. Between them all, they are just as likely to clunk a few marks - they are all elite aerialists. Even...

Oppo Camp 2016 non-Geelong match and general football (Australian Rules) discussion

What about their ability to develop players? I reckon list managers cop a lot of flak when they've bought in decent players but the club's development approach is no good.

    The run home

Assume that team's wouldn't want to rest half their side one week, then have another week off - and then play a final. Everyone gets one week off, which should be sufficient for most players - so no need for laying down in the last round.

Universal Love #Jimmy300 & Boris the Great tribute thread

Both players have filled my memory with glorious, iconic moments. Jimmy's perhaps more highlight reel stuff - for that goal at the end of the 2007 GF first quarter - snap on the left from about 40m after a chain of pressured handballs reached him. (I think that's the photo celebrating that...

Which is even more of a signal that the MC's seemingly blind faith in him may be coming to an end. It'd be great though if he could find inspiration somehow and turn that elusive corner...

    Bumped Jordan Murdoch

I'm a bit surprised and disappointed that Murdoch hasn't taken the next step to being a more accomplished footballer. There's still a small but diminishing hope that he'll find that extra something inside him to elevate to next level (i.e. consistently useful) - I can only assume that the MC...

Preview AFL Round 13 - Western Bulldogs vs Geelong, Etihad Stadium, 7.10pm Saturday 18th June, 2016

I've really enjoyed the input from the doggies posters. By far the most level-headed, polite and sensible of the opposition posters I've seen for a long time. Added some great insights into the bulldogs perspective. Hope it's a great match and the Cats get over the line.
