North, St Kilda, Bulldogs, Hawthorn, Freo. All the other clubs I can generally find something I can get excited about, or someone I dislike enough to get into a game.
I've had players look me in the eye seething with rage and swearing at me...then all of a sudden after paying dissent they say, "oh I wasn't talking to you." Sorry, but from experience I just don't believe the player.
I don't quite understand this post, if nothing else the application of insufficient intent is incredibly consistent nowadays. You can still clear kicks, just don't act like an NRL player and kick it to touch.
Sorry, West's head was over the ball genuinely contesting and copped it high. Agree Atkins couldn't do much, but it's one of those ones where the free is there regardless.
I am amazed how little communication you hear from the umpires honestly. When I'm umpiring on Saturdays, I'm screaming YOU! or STILL ME! every two minutes. I get they need to clearly hand off to the end zone umpire when the four system can see kicks over one of the mid-zone umpires to the end zone.
Was wondering what you were meaning. The number two oval rooms are tiny, but that's for the juniors. The proper rooms at Mars are AFL standard. Love umpiring at Mars, their umpire rooms are bigger than most players rooms in the league!
They heavily consult with umpires though to ensure any new rules are enforceable.
I can tell you right now the stand rule is very easy to enforce and provides a clear advantage to the attacking side, hence why the AFL is happy with it and it will stay. At the start when the rule came in, if a...

Umpires cues are to look for a player with eyes off the ball making front on contact interfering with the mark. Incredibly soft but it was a correct free kick.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but no GMHBA logos on the Cats polo or training shorts. I'm assuming still on the match shorts but an interesting downgrade in sponsorship.
Heard they are pushing for it to be up and running by the preseason game. They have had groups touring through this week looking at the stand and from all reports it's looking pretty schmick.
