He's a good player for sure but he's done nothing different this season than the past three and he hasn't got picked up. Don't see it happening. Thought he deserved more of a shot at Port his first go around though.
I'm a big Andrew Fisher fan but he's 28 and there's no improvement left in him. Doesn't have transferrable skills to the highest level when the pace picks up. More than capable at state league level though, a little disappointed (selfishly) that it's taken him this long to play in the WAFL.
Top 5 WAFL mature agers:
Jackson Ramsay - 24, inside/outside midfielder - East Perth. 184cm/83kg. Ex-Collingwood player, was baffled when he was delisted. Injured last season but looked a class above this season. Averaged 30 disposals at 69% (3rd best efficiency of players in the top 15 for...
It's outrageous that the AFL pumps more money, time, and effort into the coverage of one state's junior league than the U18 Championships themselves and it's still incredibly subpar.
There's your answer. Shannon Neale had one pretty decent U16s Champs game this year as an overager and has been beyond dreadful at colts level. That being said, Morris' two colts games were fairly decent but there are at least 20 kids I'd have taken to this game before Neale on this season's...
I know there's more Victorian kids which is why there are more of them going and not really claiming bias but seemed like the Vics had a terrible year in the U16s last year and there were a lot of underagers in the WA system that had pretty decent seasons. Just doesn't seem to add up for mine...
Grainger-Barras is injured which is why he's not been picked for the U17s Futures game. Surprised that the Vics have so many going when their U16s teams had 1 combined win between them in last years U16 Champs?
I think the Walker twins were so highly rated because they are the perfect athletes for the AFL. Tall, good frame to build size on, can cover lots of ground at good speed. That being said they are so raw skill wise, but there's a lot to work with. East Freo play a very mid-heavy game, especially...
Big fan of this, glad someone else can see it. Jackson is going to end up being a top 3 player out of this draft. Would argue his lack of goals comes from the fact he rarely spent any time down forward this season due to his obvious talent in the ruck. Has good leading patterns and there's so...
O'Driscoll #1? Jeez, he's a worse kick than Deven Robertson and that's tough. Great extractor and can find it, but couldn't hit a barn door from 20m.
Grainger-Barras is a very special player and should easily be the first KPD off the board in 2020. Fits the mould of the new-age defender very...
Completely disagree. The only positive he brings is tackling pressure and there's a lot of that from the inside midfielders already in the squad. Terrible decision making and skills are very bad. Also struggles with his smaller frame as an inside mid and doesn't have the pace or skill to convert...
Agreed. Russell Gabriel was a VFL Team of the Year Full Back and couldn't crack East Fremantle's league side consistently. And being drafted as a mature age player doesn't mean they're the best players in the league. Matt Parker wouldn't crack my Top 20 in the WAFL but St Kilda clearly believe...
Meadows is a top 10 WAFL player and I truly believe that the top players in the WAFL are better than the ones in the VFL, although there is a lot more depth in the VFL. Jolley is still a really really good player, although I do agree he's not as good as he was a couple years ago.
This list is not a be all and end all, just a couple of players that I like:
Luke Meadows (BH)
Brede Seccull (SAND)
Andrew Moore (BH)
Alex Woodward (COLL)
Jordan Keras (GEEL)
Ben Jolley (PM)
Tom Gribble (WER)
Marcus Lentini (COB)
Nick Meese (WILL)
Mack Rivett (PM)
Nash Holmes (NM)
Chris Jansen...
That's not how you calculate effective disposals. Assuming you went off afltables, which seems to have happened because the 1935 disposals matches. The 571 are actually clearances, and he only has 330 clangers, 184 of which are frees against. At most, he's 146 clanger disposals in his career...
Meadows is a natural half-back turned midfielder (past two seasons). Seriously impressed this year with his complementary play to West Perth's 'big 2' in Nelson & Black. Can find the ball, has clean hands and a decent kick with penetration. Not afraid to win his own ball and break tackles out of...
This thread has me rolling. But St Kilda are in a race with Tom Campbell to decide who I'm going to hate more this season for the irrational reason of being last to release their numbers.
Really? That's disappointing. There's a lot of kids who were playing today who'll be found out next year. If Elijah Taylor and Rhai-arn Cox are seriously in the best 44 players in the country we might as well write this draft off.
