    Women's Footy 2020 AFLW Preseason

Expectations will be different for the next few years I suspect - probably until the competition fully expands to all 18 teams. Any talk of Starcevich or anyone else high up at the club is a little silly. GWS practise match last weekend only confirmed what we should have been expecting. Suns...

    2019 Draft thread

The early Coleman bid was a little frustrating and it we probably hoped Cumberland would make it to the rookie list. But nothing we can do - just pot luck - if another club properly want talent, they're welcome to bid. But "losing" Martyn & Johnson is a bit meh. Not huge stuff to get worked up...

    2019 Draft thread

Hasn't gone quite to plan tonight. But alas if other clubs put an unreasonable bid on a player they'll get them. Of course if a club is passing over their own academy prospects it probably doesn't bode well for the bidding club.

Robertson! Sounds like another slider that everyone likes but slips due to circumstance more than anything else.

    2019 Draft thread

On purely picks it's a dreadful move: Pick 23 + Future Second Rounder for Pick 22 + Future Fourth Rounder ain't swell when addressed like that. Of course the 2nd rounder is tied to Collingwood, so it's more likely to be a pick in high 30s rather than a low 20s pick. *But* all the above is...

    Preview Lions 2019 Discussion

VFL might be what Keays needs. Too good for NEAFL, not good enough for AFL. Got caught in that awkward gap and development stagnated. A decent half-season and he could be back on a list nowadays.

Analysis 2020 Fixture - Thoughts and guesses

Sure only 4 Melbourne games is dire. But at the same time 4x Thursday/Friday Night games (all home) and 10 FTA games is huge for the club. With a bit of pain there's a lot of gain this time around.

List Mgmt. Who is playing for their careers? 2019 edition.

Given the senior list spot squeeze and the current draft picks it's safe to say we'll be active on draft night in terms of trading. Hinge promotion is a curveball I must admit for myself given the other delisting.

Robertson & Walker are pretty brutal. Christensen & Lester are toss ups but you'd suspect at this rate the rookie list is the best chance for Lyons & Skinner.

Walker, Keays & Bastinac join Robertson as delistees.

    2019 Trade thread

Given every trade period has been hectic for us for like a decade, a quiet one for once isn't the worst thing. Tried to get a few decent gets like Elliot & Laird, no dice, that's fine. Won't happen every year. So in that case, get a few role players in, move on a few fringe ones, job done...

    2019 Trade thread

Feel like we as a board need to establish some sort of multi-tier approval system to stop Dodongo from betting body parts again. But that's the extent of my thoughts on today's trade news.

    2019 Trade thread

Can't win them all. Out of contract player trying to get the best deal out of his current club it seems - no trouble with the Ch7 camera stitch up. Free tour never hurt anyone - and at the very least it added a little more salary cap pressure to a rival club.

List Mgmt. Who is playing for their careers? 2019 edition.

Obviously behind the scenes/privately the players & club will have a much better idea of what's happening, but publicly there are 9 senior players still in limbo at the moment (not signed, but not yet delisted). Keays, Christensen, Walker, Robertson, Skinner, Cutler, Taylor, Lester & CLyons...

I don't think we (or anyone else like the Suns) should get get too cute with the Hodge role. It worked because...well we had Hodge himself for the Hodge role. Birchall would be an odd get, I think we should back ourselves in or at least back the likes of Ah Chee, etc. I suspect Birchall is...

Gold Coast given 4 top 20 picks over the next 3 drafts

Over the top. But at the same time at this stage it's better to go over the top rather than not do enough and let a club die. AFL needs to give themselves every chance here - real last chance saloon with this concessions given how stringent they've been with draft assistance in the last decade.

Martyn, Cumberland & Coleman the only realistic academy prospects this year it seems then? Late/rookie/non picks though I would have thought unless someone bolts at the combine.

Where will Brisbane finish in 2020?

Probably overachieved this year on terms of ladder position - that said very stiff to miss put on a prelim. Wouldn't be shocked if we finished a little lower next year. Progress is rarely linear, that said we should be aiming finals in 2020 and anything outside of the Top 8 would be very...

List Mgmt. Who is playing for their careers? 2019 edition.

From the senior list: *Hodge retirement. *Try and trade Taylor & Keays. (If no takers for Taylor – keep, if no takers for Keays – delist) *Lyons, Skinner = delist, re-rookie. *Christensen, Walker, Robertson, Cutler re-signed if possible, but chance at least 1 will leave for greater opportunities...

Review Semi Final, 2019 - Brisbane Lions vs. GWS

What a ******* disgrace. Umpiring the difference. Only watching Lions' matches now (only given my love for them) until AFL House get their house in order - little point in spending any of my hard earned on a game that has simply descended into a diabolic state in 2019 due to the state of...

Game Day Semi Final, 2019 - Brisbane Lions vs. GWS

Would really like a win to top off our season and claims a finals victory for all the hard work that has gone into the season. If we do get up there's certainly no expectations beyond this week though.

2nds 2019 Lions Reserves and NEAFL thread

NT Thunder have pulled the plug. Might be time to revert to the QAFL/AFL Sydney/AFL Canberra competitions. At this point the Lions, Suns, Giants & Swans might very well be better off creating their own 4 team reserves league. Play each throughout the year from early March until mid September...

Slightly awkward that an AFL listed player needs to have "the talk" about being dropped from the reserves, but thus is the state of the injury list.

Injury Brisbane's injury list needs to be talked about.

Only 22 spots in the AFL, 22-23 in the NEAFL. Might need to find a thirds side to play the 45th-47th best players in over the next few weeks ;)

    2019 Trade thread

Ah Chee given his injuries would only be worth our late 2nd rounder, which is at best #35, but probably pushes out to high 30s once the Suns get their priority pick + a few compo picks for whoever this years FAs are. Suspect we could just do a direct swap with Keays potentially however if we're...
