    Injury 2026 Injury Update

Fingers crossed we can get to the bye with no further injuries and then can launch into the second half of the season with a clean bill of health. Of course a whole new game plan will also help at that point.

Review R8: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Port Adelaide

And yet more proof of how risk averse Nicks is and how the coaches feedback can and probably is stifling our players natural flair: “When he (Nicks) first saw I did that, he was freaking out a bit - he was cursing me at first but then when he saw it came off, he was praising me straight away.”...

Rumour Speculation, Rumours, Lies Thread 2026 - Part 2

I thought I read somewhere that his parents live in Robe and ferry the kids back and forth from Perth to Brisbane. Would be a lot easier for him to be in Adelaide with support of his family closer. I can’t believe I’m writing like a gossip columnist.

    Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 4) - Re-Signed to 2027...

I remember yelling at the tv for the player delivering the ball to look to the far side - on multiple occasions you had Cook or others free. It’s clearly an instruction to bomb long and deep and lock the ball in. Not to risk a turnover and sling shot down the other end. Just look at ANBs game...

    Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 4) - Re-Signed to 2027...

I’ve been lamenting on here for a month the fact that in theory we have one of the most potent forwards lines yet we refuse to move the ball quickly to them. Nicks is so risk averse. He wants slow ball movement where our structure remains in place so that if there’s a turnover we don’t get...

That metres gained from handball - the lack of playing on, forward handball and overlap run is damning. We have zero chance of winning a final with this gameplan.

Riewoldt said “contested possessions” then corrected himself to mean tackles.

Jack Riewoldt with an interesting stat On The Couch. Two players in afl history have had 15+ tackles and 700+ metres gained in an afl game. One is Sam Berry and the other…. Gary Ablett Jr Yes sir - we have GAJ#2 on our list!!!

Brayden Cook. What a flipping legend! Has written his name into AFL immortality with one kick! [sorry - just rewatched his goal. Still can’t believe the nerves of steel the kid has]

    Preview R9: Changes vs. Richmond

For what it’s worth I thought Ryan was ok in the sanfl on Friday. More than serviceable. Definitely worth a run in the 1’s over bond to see what he’s got.

    Player Watch Sid Draper

As I’ve said elsewhere, I don’t think Zac Taylor is adding what others see. If we’re looking for a spot to slot Sid into then that’s the obvious change to me.

Also means if Collingwood are truly into him then they are trading for a contracted player.

Jones has looked very good in the middle at sanfl level. And no, I don’t want to see him at afl level again.

It has to be coaching instruction. The number of times Cook was free on the fat side inside 50 and was ignored is more evidence to this.

    Preview R9: Changes vs. Richmond

I really don’t understand why every year this needs to be reinforced. Same with Tex - his rebirth in 2023 was simply off the back of not wrestling anymore but getting fit and getting on his bike. Fog looks too bottom heavy (even by his own standards) at the moment. Needs to get a lot fitter and...

    Preview R9: Changes vs. Richmond

Not yet. I’m usually the first one yelling to play the kids but we would only play one of them to give them a taste of afl and the different standard. Expect them to be moved off the ball very easily at afl level. Both need extended time in the gym.

I was referring to his game Friday. Everything in that message chain was based around Fridays sanfl game.

    Preview R9: Changes vs. Richmond

I find it hard to discern any game plan in the sanfl. You have so many top ups that it really is just a kick it to the next contest game plan. Port seemed to have more of a game plan than we did from my viewing. Atleast they slowed it down or sped it up depending on the match status.

    Preview R9: Changes vs. Richmond

I really want Draper to develop in the AFL team not the SANFL, but by geez he isn’t doing himself many favours with his SANfL form. He has the occasional burst away from stoppage but is otherwise invisible at the moment.

    Preview R9: Changes vs. Richmond

Having now watched the sanfl game, I’m ready to enlighten everyone with my proposed changes. Out: Walker, Butts, Bond In: Murray, Dawson, Nank Nank is too good for sanfl. Max to the lock down defender role where he excels and Nank to provide more rebound off half back. I think we can go a...

Review R8: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Port Adelaide

Other damning footage from First Crack is how little our guys are lowering their eyes going into F50. The amount of space some of our forwards have only to watch the ball get bombed in to a contest and nullified. Are we worried about turnover and getting burnt on the rebound? So would prefer a...

Review R8: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Port Adelaide

Some pretty damning footage on First Crack of Taylor doing a half arsed job twice in a row of manning up Wines in the last minute. Wines waltzes through the pack and handballs to Joe Berry for the goal.

    Preview R9: Changes vs. Richmond

Three games until the bye. Just continue to ease him into over the next month then launch.

I think it’s this year. I think the ratings are as against midfielders. So I wouldn’t read too much into the below average rankings etc
