agree with everything you said. Crouch is not elite so wouldn't be paying through the nose for him. No doubt he is a good player though - if we have someone like that wanting to come - I think we should try make it work at the right price. A million a year is a pure joke.

You have no idea what the incentives are so please stop making stuff up. I doubt incentives would give an additional ~35% on the base wage. Have no idea what the incentives are - might be to play 82.5% TOG, might be to kick 20 goals, might just be playing 20+ games - who knows how likely or not...

So the Martin deal is 1+ million for the first year and 3+ million over 5 years. >600k per year. It's a big investment to make in the hope he becomes a good player. Doesn't strike me as the guy producing 600k type value when he is 30 years old.
