In theory, the AFL/NEP on-site team could also produce the VFL feed (or at least the main mix bus) and send JAM the clean feed. If money and resourcing wasn't an issue, that would be ideal and is, in theory, no different to NEP sending 7 or Fox their feed.
I get that but it's about costs and needs. You can get away with filming state- and local-level sport with much less (and cheaper) equipment than you can for TV - it wouldn't make sense for the VFL (or their broadcaster) to pay overs for the AFL's production team (probably NEP) to shoot that...
May be a different production altogether - have seen this with rugby union (Shute Shield on Stan/9Gem/9Now but lower grades and Colts are on NSW Rugby TV/Sideline Sport) and league (NSWRLTV/BarTV and Kayo have broadcast the same games with completely different feeds).
Depends on rights...
Melbourne (2010 [2009 was not a Premiership, only a Grand Final win], 2013, 2018 + logo - anniversary, 2021), Cronulla (2017 logo only - anniversary), Cowboys (2016), Manly (2009, 2012), Brisbane (1999, 2007), Penrith (2004) all introduced different home jerseys the season immediately after...
Wasn't really to begin with IMO - just a shame they didn't do the simple thing of making text black or white when the secondary colour didn't contrast enough
Agree but the team name isn't as important given the logo - for the score though, the Newcastle red is maybe a touch too dark for contrast.
Last night's game was particularly egregious IMO with the Wahs wearing blue, red and green but their graphics being green and blue, and the Roosters...
Had another crack after last night's games. Score (i.e. the number of points) was unreadable in so many situations and I reckon you can mix the "extended" and "condensed" fonts.
Also makes it look less strange having taller score numbers IMO than a bunch of space above and below team and score...
It's more the shades/tints they chose were super bright. I also assume that Leeds are wearing that only in the US but still just way too bright for what was worn
Just adding this for context but I'll jog on
The Brisbane Lions situation almost perfectly parallels the St. George-Illawarra Dragons in the NRL, but with a few key differences.
St. George and Illawarra formed a joint venture in 1999, the first in the NRL, with St. George having a strong...
Tried again based on the AFL one with a few Fox League tweaks (tackle count etc).
Looks like the Fox League one is using a slightly newer design language but I'm not certain - I don't have the fonts so this is just a best guess.
I don't mind that aspect (and I prefer the scorebug at the top - better at a pub or venue) but it just seems so unbalanced.
Score digits look horrible IMO
1st Half text is way smaller and bigger, simultaneously, than it needs to be
Tackle count and 5th tackle gain/loss graphic end up way too...
I'm wondering if we're going to get similar either for Vegas or after in the NRL? Last update was 2022 off memory.
Not sure how well the space can be utilised given we never display the "full score" in the NRL. I integrated the tackle count into the team box, maybe a footy symbol like is...
I feel like they've been very smart knowing they have to appeal to new supporters but that they have no future if they can't secure the support of Norths supporters as well
