Welcome Welcome to the Hawks Jack Scrimshaw

seems extremley unlikely but it wouldnt be beyond clarko to throw big money at Scrim would hate to seem him leave after he's really turned the corner this year and become a well-rounded defensive player, as well as retaining his offensive skills. been awesome to watch so far along with Frosty...

you forgot that he also mentioned last week's slippery, humid conditions ;)

They can't touch it anymore. Nowhere near it. Butters rozee JHF look like our mids vs GC this quarter haha. Collingwood's pressure is immense when they turn it up

Mason Cox is the king of innovative fashion in the AFL. Mad shades and now a white glove. What's next??

draper is a disturbingly overrated footballer but i thought that was pretty funny lol
  10. The Spirit of Cricket

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Josh Ward. Extends to 2025!

Ward's problem is he simply isn't better (yet) than our top-line centre setup. Unfortunately while those blokes have been out of form, so has he. If he goes back to the VFL and dominates in the middle while some of our "premier" mids continue to put in stinkers, I reckon he can come back into...

    Preview Round 6, 2024: North v Hawks, 4pm 21st April, Marvel Stadium

im guessing the decision came down to who would you rather get a full game of midfield minutes in the VFL vs likely 1 quarter in the AFL on a wing/flank as a sub (assuming Croc ends up sub)
  12. The Spirit of Cricket

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Massimo D'Ambrosio

almost an identical ratio to Mass. Suggests to me they are flexible in their positioning and work hard up and down the ground

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Massimo D'Ambrosio

alright master of navigating putrid mobile applications, can you do the same for Amon? would be interested to see but apparently i lack the dexterity to pull it off efficiently

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn, Chad Wingard. 200 games! Signed to the end of 2024

can't wait for him to come back

Coach Sam Mitchell's direction for the club and 2024 news

my guess is they wanted a more surge-oriented style of gameplay whereas we looked to pick holes in their press and play "perfect" footy?

    oh no it's happening again
  17. The Spirit of Cricket

    Preview Round 6, 2024: North v Hawks, 4pm 21st April, Marvel Stadium

Nah it's not just that, Sicily was quite good in most games last year when Blanck was in the 2s/hurt. Although it absolutely plays some role. I think equally important is our inability to pressure on the midfield, which indirectly creates a much larger defensive load because there are constant...

News Hawthorn in the media 2024

Gabbo is typically quite good and didn't mind this article from him at all.
  19. The Spirit of Cricket

    Preview Round 6, 2024: North v Hawks, 4pm 21st April, Marvel Stadium

Sicily has been poor by his own standards. By the standards of the other 22 players on the field he is still one of our better players. He's been given an immense defensive workload and it is significantly impacting his offensive and intercepting output. All things considered, our D50 hasn't...

Preview Round 5, 2024: Suns v Hawks, 7:30pm Sat 13th April, People First Stadium

who do you think deserved to get dropped from our game vs Collingwood?

Preview Round 5, 2024: Suns v Hawks, 7:30pm Sat 13th April, People First Stadium

Bringing up our overall score is only relevant if we played the same team each four games. Our team is significantly different to our R1 team lol
  22. The Spirit of Cricket

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Lloyd Meek

I honestly don't think Cox was that bad. He's mostly a liability now but before he cooked his eyes he had a pretty solid few years of 1 goal a game, 4-5 marks, 10 touches and 15-20 hitouts. Nothing incredible but certainly not the complete failure that many believe he is/was.

Surely this is a draft related question

Preview Round 5, 2024: Suns v Hawks, 7:30pm Sat 13th April, People First Stadium

excuses are just reasons for poor play. trying to understand why a team is underperforming doesn't mean you're "excusing" their poor performance. it doesn't make it any more acceptable and it's not like the coaches would look at our terrible work in Darwin and be like "nah, all good, it was...

Toast Welcome to Hawthorn, Finn Maginness “absolute Hawthorn nuffie” and a Hawk to 2025

Unfortunately his disposal is a real limiting factor but this was one of the most involved games he's played. Noticed him doing quite a few good things, just lacks execution by foot.

Autopsy Round 4, 2024 : Hawks get Pied

our first quarter wasn't that bad. it was our second quarter that was very disappointing

This is definitely tracking to be his best season. Had a great 2nd half
  30. The Spirit of Cricket

Autopsy Round 4, 2024 : Hawks get Pied

besides Essendon we have played three of this year's likely top 4 teams. We had some great wins last year but it's easy to forget we were also belted time after time. The gap between our worst and best is closing. We haven't had our "pants pulled down" for entire games the way we did at least 5+...
