If Mick McGuane went to Arden St in the last pre-season as he says, then he was there to watch grass grow as LDU and the North boys were at LaTrobe University.
He loves and wholeheartedly supports his assistant coaches having the ambition to become senior coaches and he loves and wholeheartedly supports their application for any vacant senior coaching position. Just not his own.
I understand that a painting crew was in at Docklands Stadium earlier this week due to a post-game address by a senior coach last weekend where the previous coast of paint was stripped from the walls. Can't confirm whether it was our game.
Actually, I take it back. You are not a conspiracy nut. That requires at least functional intelligence to read about conspiracy theories. Street wise? That sort of talk is only ever used by people who think that there is a form of intelligence that justifies their academic incompetence. The...
Yes, this is the beauty of Sonja's coup in securing Clarko. He has 5 years without interference or knee-jerk reaction to build a team and that's 5 years that he would not have had at Carlton, Collingwood, or Essendon, and hence the reason why he rejected them when they offered him the job...
If there are peanuts involved, I suspect the Bulldogs will be paying for them. They will surely offer up some steak knives for us to take Lobb off their books, relieving their salary cap so that they can match offers to retain JUH.
That's interesting that you say that because I was talking with a bloke at the game on Sunday who coaches Division 1 of the WFNL and he insists that the structures and zones and tactics are exactly the same as the AFL, and any team that doesn't follow these trends gets left behind very quickly...
They don't need to be told by outsiders. They are holding each other to account from the top down. There is no finger pointing. They all accept that everyone within the entire football department needs to lift and improve their performance.
It is truly staggering the way North Melbourne supporters see the result of a severe slash and burn of the list - that being heavy defeats due to inexperience and underdeveloped bodies. But rather than remain patient, we demand that the few remaining senior players be dumped in favour of more...
If anyone has yet to see the Will Phillips video posted to socials last week, I'd recommend watching it. You will see straight away the value that Emma Kearney offers to the football department through her perception, knowledge, and skills as an educator. Emma's capacity for observing and...
Honestly, I only noticed Libby Birch pre-game and I was thinking Uncle_Leo might have lost his mind talking about a bloke on the microphone. Once the game starts, I don't pay any attention to ground announcers so I didn't realise that it wasn't Libby doing the whole game.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see this happen as much as anyone. I'm guessing the only reason we are sticking with Tucker and Stephens for the time being is that our structures require intense discipline, zoning and holding position and width from our wings with perhaps specific...
Why would I need to make excuses for Laidley? Anyone who is old enough to remember can list off Laidley's shortcomings as a coach. One of them was relating to and communicating with the younger players. There is no chance Laidley would make this current team significantly better.
It feels like there have been a few years of mass delistings and 2020 was just one of them but just for argument's sake, it's worth considering which of these 2020 listed players could still be playing for us and making us a better team:
Jamie Macmillan, Majak Daw, Jasper Pittard, Ben Jacobs...
Laidley was notoriously challenged when it came to communicating with the youngest players on the list. The 2007 team had loads of experience and was much older than the current list.
I dunno, do you really think any of these umpires are going to miss the biggest bloke on the field lying on top of the ball deliberately to ice the clock?
Does any club outside the northern states spend money under current rules developing kids with the hope that they become good enough to play at AFL level but not so good that they would be taken in the top 40 picks? Given that the national draft tends to only attract selections to around pick...
I agree that it's great to see Clarko is not treating us like idiots because lord knows many North supporters on this very thread don't tend to warrant that assumption. The inference that Harry Sheezel, being a talented footballer playing some good football, must care a great amount, whereas...
