Pretty sad, that even their domestic T20 teams are all part-owned by IPL franchises. Meaning, a chunk of the profits from their most profitable format gets siphoned off to India. It would be interesting to know if these franchises had a role in not releasing players to play in the NZ test series.
I was just wondering who of the draftees are likely to play next season. I presume McKercher would be likely to play early on, as he seems physically developed enough for the type of role he is likely to play. I presume Goad and Dawson are pretty unlikely, as they need both physical development...
My take from Sanders' Dad's interview:
Sanders is keen to join North and was working towards it via NGA pre-listing.
They/we have now recieved word from the AFL that pre-listing may be off the table and Sanders may well go to the draft.
His Dad therefore now says he would like to hear his name...
Crap way to lose (and it is very annoying not to come away with the win when it was there for the taking) but IMO 2-2 is probably a fair result. They clearly outplayed us in large parts of the series. We certainly have a lot to think about.
You are right but he had planted his foot so far down the pitch and flashed at the ball so far from his body, so even a small amount of turn or bounce would bring the edge into play.
I don't understand bowling first. We played here a few weeks ago and put on a good first innings score. The pitch then started playing unevenly with Lyon taking 4 wickets in the 4th.
Hope we bat first...when we played there against India, the pitch deteriorated and was more difficult to play later on. Seems a recurring theme there, as average first innings score is 340 and forth innings is 135.
