Training 2024 Preseason reports and discussion

His explosiveness was never up to it. As a forward, this was more/not completely mitigated because he could watch the play unfold, try and work out where he should be, be on a constant little shuffle, and then try and use his athleticism and size as attributes. Again, I said try. ;) As a...

Nothing wrong with what you've said. It's not a completely unreasonable assessment in my eyes as well. Reckon Reeves goes barely ok, would be soooooo nice to have a real dominant Ruck who wreck'd s**t.

Soooooo much patience. Serious kudos for trying to walk Crawshay through it.

Think you're incredibly wrong. On both counts. Douchebaggery has been on the steady outs for more than a decade. Can you find them still practicing their form of small dick behaviour in desperate need to elevate themselves by diminishing others, unwilling to die out? Sure. But acting like it's...

Or.......accept the support when it's given with seeming goodwill and don't be a dick about it.... I guess either way is behaviour du jour these days. I like to save my ire and distaste for when they refuse to support my club.

Did you bother to watch the video posted and somehow miss Duke et al being tackled at some point in the sim? Not sure I've ever heard a supporter before believe that such a thing is unthinkable....

I really liked the speed and intensity of the match sim, especially the first half. Players seemed to pretty instinctually know where they wanted to get going and move the ball to. Wasn't a tonne of stop, look at the field for 5 seconds and wait for an opening, instead those forward/around the...

Coach Sam Mitchell's direction for the club and 2024 news

I've lived in the States the last 23 years now, and the only thing more broken than the health care system is the political one. Those espousing US health care as having high level professionalism and treatment are describing the 5% who can afford out of network treatment or who have coverage...

Coach Sam Mitchell's direction for the club and 2024 news

Rob McCartney's a great listen to. Such a goodly-soul sounding man and makes me feel like the human care component linking the players and coaches to management is in great hands.

This is even weirder mate. The only thing Blake would be doing to Moore and Lever is providing a step ladder. You realize that the job of a forward is to be first to the ball and mark it, gather it, pass it to teammates in better position or kick a goal right? A pure negating forward who isn't...

Training 2024 Preseason reports and discussion

Yeh, don't agree. In fact, the above reads as fan fiction ignoring everything we've watched from him. Huge difference between being an elite reader of the ball and having the movement and pace to beat all others to it, or being led to the contest because you're manning an opponent or working as...

List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management 2023

I'd go with your own musings. As 4P said, it's this: Sam did things within the flow of the game by hand and foot that changed what was possible on first viewing and expectation. He created moments and opportunities for others that didn't exist and could not have been expected, quite literally...

I agree. Can only think that Blake himself has asked for the change as a fresh'n up to the back half of his career. If so, more power to him.

Funny is not the right word. He's interesting, easy to read, and seemingly extremely available for comment. What would you put up as the value you bring with your posts?

Yup, pillars is not one for sugar coating below par skills. His excitement for this stage of pre-season showing good ball movement has me twitchy. Not flinchy ffs, just........a happy twitchy and maybe a little twangy.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Bodie Ryan!

I think you're spending too much time with a boner for a KL takedown. Personally I don't take a single word from ITK as gospel and it doesn't hurt my ability to enjoy this site just fine. Just treat it ALL as fan fiction that spurs fun debate and you won't need to scorekeep who does and doesn't...

I reckon he looked lost and ineffectual the times we trialed him forward. Definitely did not have the toe to be damaging defensively. Could things have changed? Maybe. He knows the game so much better he may be able to effect it in different ways. Personally do not see the point.

News Hawthorn Racism Review - No player name speculation - opposition posters tread very carefully

I personally don't mind you posting in this thread, but sharing your thoughts is not really of much help. It's already been done 6 ways from Sunday and is terribly divisive even amongst our own. Re Kennett's craven desire for constant recognition, if you have to ask for it, then it's clearly...

Yeah, you've gone hard and too early. Check out the pics of Chol on Hawks insta. Guy has dropped a tonne of weight and looks extremely good. Wish supporters would give the players, whether Chol or Ginni or others, just the mere-est chance to show what they're about at the Club.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear!

Not sure I could wish any harder for great things to happen for a young man, on the field and off it, than for Calsher. May the heartbeat of the HFC, the strength of your family, and the bellowing concrete shaking chants from the faithful carry you throughout your life.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Will McCabe!

Not sure a better description could be made. Thing that stands out is he makes a bee line for where the ball is heading and then backs himself to attack it on the quickest route he can find, even when it's landed and bouncing with impetus. Doesn't second guess if it might go past him, or under...

I've got blue balls from trusting that Never-never Dingley Land would be sitting in my Christmas stocking one of these last few years. Player Watch 2023 AFL Draft Pool Discussion Thread

Really? Fair enough, we are seeing the same player through completely different eyes. I reckon Scrim's awareness is poor, not even average for an AFL player. Gets caught or rushed because he's got no idea of what's surrounding him. Good below the knees? You'd back Scrim to pick up a bumbling...

Player Watch 2023 AFL Draft Pool Discussion Thread

Yup, if you added awareness, evasiveness, a true side step, acceleration, far better passer to advantage by foot, excellent reading of the play, working back to get into marking contests and being able to pluck them in multiple ways that doesn't include two arms straight up and slight ducking of...
